Rose Street Studio: The Proposal, how did it happen? Jaime: Jon's parents were visiting from Minnesota and it was a beautiful weekend in San Francisco. We spent the Saturday hiking and wine tasting in Sonoma. The next day, Jon took the four of us flying around the bay area (he got his pilot's license as soon as he could afford it) . Then we went to our favorite beach (fort funston in San Francisco) where he proposed. Then we went to one of my sister's homes where my whole family was waiting to have dinner together with all of us! It all started with a beached whale!! After being with Jason for five years, I would never have thought there would be a way that he would still be able to surprise me. I remember that the two weeks before he proposed, he was acting like a crazy person around the house. He seemed stressed out, busy and frantic at times. I came home from work one day and he immediately came up to me and told me that we HAVE to go to the beach because he heard there was a beached whale by our house. As he knows my love for ocean animals, I immediately started to become so excited that I could barely contain myself. I was so excited that I even grabbed Bailey (my 11 year old Miniature Doxie) and told him, “Bailey, you’re going to see a whale today!!!” As the three of us got in the car to drive down the beach, I could barely sit still in my seat. We got out of the car, walked down the trail, crossed the bridge and started to walk towards the beach. As we got closer, I notice that there was something on the bench that we sit on when watching sunset. I looked at him and ask what he thought it was and he told me to go see. I immediately responded with, “Who cares what it is, WHERE’S THE WHALE.” He insisted that I go see what it is, so finally, I gave in and start walking towards the bench. As I got closer, I notice that it was a big piece of metal in the shape of a heart. I approached the bench and looked over at the heart. On the front, it said TURN ME OVER. I flipped the heart over and it read, WILL YOU MARRY ME. As I turned around, Jason was kneeling down on one knee in the sand and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes. After lots and lots of hugs and kisses, we continued to walk down the beach where he had champagne, cheese, crackers and strawberries waiting for us on a blanket. We were both in pure bliss. As the sun started to set, I looked down both ends of the beach, leaned over to Jason and asked, “SO THERE’S NO WHALE?” only to have him respond, “NO SHADIA, THERE IS NO WHALE.” Cinematography: Rose Street Studio rosestreetstudio.com/blog/ Photography: Chris Werner http://www.chriswernerphoto.com Ceremony, reception & catering: Edgewood Tahoe http://www.edgewoodtahoe.com Coordinator: Shannon Eagan Florist: Rose Pedals Florist http://www.weddingsintahoe.com DJ: Rocking Entertainment http://rockingentertainment.com/www.RockingEntertainment.com/Welcome.html Accommodations: Aston Lakeland Village http://www.astonlakelandvillage.com

Back in September, Jeff quietly tagged Jillian’s calendar for a hike and dinner on Friday October 12th. As the time approached, Jillian had a few minor questions about things like getting dressed after the hike, but her suspicion did not seem to be high. Feeling emboldened by the apparent continuing secrecy of his plan, Jeff started taking various pictures of Jillian getting ready, putting make-up on in the car, etc. The couple’s hike was at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve above Palo Alto, with panoramic views of the bay area and out to the Pacific Ocean. Jeff continued to click off fun pictures as the couple hiked, and even found a willing photographer or two to take some pictures. At the top of Borel Hill, Jeff began his well-rehearsed monologue of affection and love for Jillian. He was somewhat befuddled as Jillian turned the proposal into a conversation, but pressed on and dropped to his knee. Then everything became clear and Jillian tearfully accepted his proposal. As the sun set, the couple toasted a special wine from Savannah Channel and snapped some amazing sunset pictures in the dramatic setting above the bay. It was Christmas Morning 2010. Fran sent Jill on a scavenger hunt through the house with several clues in different rooms. Finally, Jill's last clue brought her back to the room Fran was in. She was so intently searching for the next clue that she didn't notice the ring in the box on the table until Fran had to tell her to look at it. He got on one knee and managed to squeeze a sweet proposal through the tears!
