Video by: Jordan Popowich Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s 2015-2016 Season brings to you a wide array of works to entertain, enrich and inspire you. Love, betrayal, and forgiveness reign with the 76th season opener, Giselle. Widely considered as the greatest ballet of the Romantic era, Giselle has inspired generations of dancers with its technically challenging choreography and beautiful, haunting story. In November, we are excited to present world-renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company. They make their Winnipeg debut with three powerful works: Company B, Esplanade and Piazzolla Caldera. In December, Winnipeg’s favourite holiday tradition, Nutcracker is back with its enchanting story that has captured the hearts of children of all ages over the years. In February 2016, the age-old captivating tale of Cinderella is given a unique spin with Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story - complete with its classical yet sleek choreography, retro 50’s style costumes and setting and brilliant jazz arrangement led by Ron Paley based on the music of Richard Rodgers. In spring of 2016, Peter Pan will take you on a high-flying journey back to Neverland. This gravity-defying production is a brilliant mix of ballet and theatre that follows the adventures of the boy who wouldn’t grow up. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet presents another exciting season of Q Dance. Q Dance continues to be inventive and innovative featuring original works from Q Dance Artistic Director, Peter Quanz and his talented collaborators. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Professional Division is an integral part of our organization. We are extremely proud to present Spotlight – RWB School’s main stage ballet performance. Spotlight celebrates the amazing talent of young artists from the RWB School as they present their year-end showcase. During our 76th season, we are also embarking on a tour featuring Going Home Star – Truth and Reconciliation across Canada. One of the most significant works produced by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, we hope through this tour we are able to further communicate and engage audiences. We will also travel to Germany and the Netherlands on an exciting tour as we perform Moulin Rouge ® - The Ballet. We invite you to experience the passion, athleticism and artistry of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet with our upcoming season and we thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to seeing you at the ballet! Music by: Dexter Britain

Can a ballet heal a nation...still haunted by the legacy of residential schools? If you like our promo trailer, please consider contributing to our Indiegogo campaign at indiegogo.com/projects/truth-dance-and-reconciliation/x/1857089 The Royal Winnipeg Ballet has brought together a renowned team of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal writers, choreographers and composers to create what may be the most challenging commission of their lives. A ballet that tells the story of the Aboriginal experience in Canada's residential schools. The documentary, "Truth Dance and Reconciliation" will follow the creation of the ballet, from the first creative meeting to its world premiere in Winnipeg in 2014. Interwoven will be the testimonies of residential school survivors who as children were banned from speaking their language and practicing their culture, including traditional dances. Director Barbara Hager has exclusive access to the ballet's creative team (author Joseph Boyden, composer Christos Hatzis, choreographer Mark Godden, musician Steve Wood and singer Tanya Tagaq) as they come together to create a performance that is both true to its European dance form and respectful of the people and history it represents.
