But I Do won the Royal Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival for excellence, and I was honored at the Los Angeles Movie Awards for directing it. In receiving these, I joined a group that has included Ron Howard, Samuel Jackson, and Hayden Christensen. Besides the fact that they’re famous, there is another minor difference between other winners and me:) Their staffs were experienced professionals, from crew to catering. My staff consisted of friends who graciously volunteered, and catering was when I shared a bag of Milky Way candy bars. What I loved most about the experience was the fun we had. BEHIND THE SCENES VIDEO: www.tinyurl.com/8qxc698 The inspiration for the But I Do storyline came from my several experiences at hosting university events as an author and Love and Romance expert for publications like Seventeen and Cosmopolitan and talk shows like those on RT TV. At each event, girls confided that they wanted to attract guys, but felt like they had to look and act a certain way to do that. This troubled me since every girl has worth and appealing traits. I believe that what is most important in building genuine relationships is that she has confidence and is true to herself. This is the message of But I Do.
