1. The Pattern for Biblical Fellowship, Part 2 (Selected Scriptures) John MacArthur

    49:15

http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/90-396 Well tonight, as you know, we are continuing to look at the subject of fellowship. And we talked about that a little bit last time. Let me just give you a brief introduction. We hear the word a lot around the church, always have, but we need to get a good understanding and a good definition of what it actually means. The church is a fellowship. The Greek word koinonia means partnership. That's essentially what it means. Shared life, shared ministry, shared responsibility, shared resources, all of those fit together to make up what we understand as fellowship. The component that makes it work is love, spiritual life and spiritual love. The love of Christ shed abroad in our hearts draws us not only to Him, but to one another. And so, in fellowship we serve one another in love. And the goal of this fellowship, according to Ephesians, is to build up the body of Christ into the fullness of the stature of Christ. We serve each other in love for the purpose of strengthening the body, giving honor to the Lord, enjoying His blessing, demonstrating His power, giving witness to the world and becoming increasingly more like Him....

http://www.gty.org/Resources/Sermons/90-407 First Corinthians chapter 15 is our chapter and I'm very, very thankful for the direction of the Spirit of God to look at this chapter. It is the great resurrection chapter. As you can see by simple glance, it's long, it runs for 58 verses and by the time we're done, we'll have a great understanding of the wonder of resurrection. Now this chapter is not particularly about the resurrection of Christ, although that is foundational to the resurrection. It's about your resurrection and my resurrection. So this is your future we're talking about here. This is your story. This will happen to you. This is very personal. This looks ahead to what the Lord has prepared for them that love Him....

http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/42-257 We have had an unusual week here in Southern California, as you know, and yet it's not something unexpected. We have had our lives dominated this past week by the horrific fire storms that have torched Southern California. The combination with which we are very family, severe drought, dry brush, excessive heat, dry Santa Ana winds with gusts up to 100 miles an hour, fallen power lines, and a few crazy arsonists have engulfed our communities in an inferno that has for a while, at least, put a million people out of their homes...the largest mass evacuation of people in the history of the state of California. We are all fully aware of the terrible danger of wind and fire in our community. We see it with our own eyes and have friends who even lost their homes in these fires last week. But fire is not new. We've seen it before here in Southern California, the world has seen it throughout all of its history, really. In fact, the world has a long history of fire. Though we can't do without fire, even the ancient world was dependent on fire for warmth, dependent on fire for cooking, fire could also destroy and fire can also kill....
