With the recrent Obergefell et al. vs Hodges decision by the Supreme Court about marriage, Pastor Tim tactfully reminds us that our decisions are based on principals that results in response. Being citizens of heaven, our decisions need to be based on the principles of the unchanging Word of God and our responses are then based on His will expressed with love. Morality cannot be legislated - it comes from a relationship with God.

Last Sunday we spent a lot of our time together considering the meaning of marriage and the purpose it serves. We considered the Pharisees’ question concerning the lawfulness of divorce and thought seriously about Jesus answer. As you remember, the Pharisees’ who asked Jesus the question were not as interested in learning the correct interpretation of Deuteronomy 24 as they were interested in getting Jesus in trouble, for the predominant view of marriage in his day was that a man could divorce his wife for just about any reason. In answering their question Jesus said, “But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate” (Mark 10:6-9). Some believe that when it comes to a person’s sexual orientation, Jesus was silent and that his silence is a form of approval. However, we learn from these verses that Jesus was anything but silent, for he assumes in his answer that the institution of marriage is not only heterosexual, but a monogamous relationship sanctioned by God himself. We learn from Genesis 1-2 three important things about marriage: 1. The description of Eve being taken from Adam’s rib indicates that her gender as a woman was intended to complement Adam as a man. 2. Adam and Eve’s “one-flesh” union is directly related to their anatomy and is the reason they were able to enter into a “one-flesh” union. 3. Jesus’ answer to the Pharisees’ question assumes that marriage is the emotional, physical, and spiritual relationship that can only be experienced between a man and a woman as a compatible and covenantally binding relationship. What I would like to do during our time together is first demonstrate how the every sexual act or form of sexual intimacy is judged holy or unholy against Genesis 1-2. Secondly, I want to help you understand how our courts and nation have come to the place where sexual intercourse between a man and a woman is no longer considered the “marriage act” that serves to consummate a marriage. Finally, I want to offer help, hope, and encouragement for anyone struggling with same-sex attraction, longing for marriage yet still single, and couples who are presently struggling in their marriages.

"Grace of God" can be vague. God defines it as a special relationship that continues for life: marriage. To have that relationship is life and blessing and confidence. To not have that relationship is shame and fear and death. God, of all beings, takes marriage seriously, because He made it as part of the original creation. He is faithful to His people even beyond the reasonable limit of death. How does He do that? How is it that the God of the Bible alone emphases redemption and alone gives confidence? You need grace! Watch the video and find out.

Published on Jul 6, 2015 This message is for the Righteous Remnant from all quarters of the Judeo-Christian sphere who perceive their Biblical foundations are under attack from forces hostile to a Bible-based lifestyle. This attack has recently taken on a great intensity, since the United Nations push for LGBT human rights has been taken up by some 85 nations, with still more to sign on. In the United States the Obama administration has been a prime mover in the United Nations gay / LGBT push, even lighting up the White House in the colors of the gay / LGBT flag, and flying that flag at US embassies abroad. Even more alarmingly, the Supreme Court has gotten onboard with the UN campaign, with its recent ruling making what is termed same-sex marriage, whether between lesbian women or gay men, the law of the land in all fifty states. The four dissenting justices in that case each sounded an alarm. Perhaps the most foreboding for us was Justice Alito’s prediction that those holding the “old beliefs” will now be “labeled as bigots” and will therefore “be treated as such” by “governments, employers and schools.” This is even more perplexing, since Chief Justice Roberts stated the ruling is not based on the Constitution. Certainly, these warnings raise many questions, not the least of which is: “what is really going on?” Also, “how do the Scriptures shed light on this?” And finally, “is such a big change as this foretold in Bible prophecy?” You may even wonder if the Bethlehem Star that recently appeared after 2000 years is related to all of this in some way. If you want answers to those questions, you need to watch this video. When you find that it clears up questions for you, please share it with other believers.

Marriage and Freedom in America - Part 1 - Independence Day Special. July 2, 2015 How do we respond to people who hate what we believe as Christians? Listen to this beginning lesson in a series on marriage as you face friends and family who wonder why you object to "gay marriage". Hear the thoughts of a number of famous Americans who through the years have legally defined marriage and its importance to the well being of the nation. See that arguing will not convince anyone but rather find out that your defense must come out of your ultimate beliefs about reality. As you encounter those who think Christians are purveyors of hate, see that you must treat them in kindness as you point out the truth of God’s Word. www.deanbibleministries.org
