The Parent/Teacher Home VIsit Project, a nationwide project run in St. Paul by the teacher's union, works to build relationships between parents and teachers with the goal of providing better education for students. Teachers set up a visit with their students' families via phone call, then visit the families at home in pairs. A key component of every home visit is the hopes and dreams conversation, when teachers ask parents what they want for their child both in the short term and long term. We have made a series of videos from filmed interviews with parents and teachers involved with home visits. This story gives a little background about my activities in Kyrgyzstan as a Boren Fellow. In April 2015, I took a little road trip with my colleague, Bilimbek, to Naryn oblast. As part of an environmental education program we are helping to pilot--the KMEECS project--we visited 15 schools in 5 days and explained the project to school directors and teachers. This story was produced for the #IDSP15 Intercultural Digital Storytelling Project for the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
