The Reading Fire south of Old Station grew to 15,504 acres by Saturday night. With just seven percent containment, firefighters were battling the blaze on two major fronts. One front was moving east towards West Prospect Peak. The second was moving back into Lassen Volcanic National Park and burning timber near the Devastated Area Interpretive Trail north of Hat Lake. The Butte Lake Campground and several additional trails were closed due to approaching fire. The Reading Fire Incident Command Post at Crags Campground was put on precautionary alert and told at 12:45 p.m. to be prepared to pack up in 20 minutes and move the base camp to Shingletown if necessary. The Lassen Volcanic National Park Highway continues to be closed from Manzanita lake to Summit Lake. The Lassen National Forest has closed all roads and campgrounds south of Highway 44 and east of Highway 89 including Butte Creek Campground. The following Lassen Park campgrounds are closed: Summit Lake, Lost Creek, & Crags. Numerous trails remain closed in the park including: PCT from Corral Meadows to the north bounder, Paradise meadows, Terrace Lakes, Painted Dunes, Cinder Cone, Twin Lakes, Cluster Lakes, Butte Lake, Window Lake, and trails west of Snag Lake.
