The concept here is spiritual, inspired by the mystical/Sufi path I consciously took up a while ago. Only when she comes to terms with her own self, discovers herself, does she begin to feel the resonations of her deeper being, spilling out from the subconscious into the realm of her whole existence! The hands touching slightly is that metaphorical point of contact. The water in the video is the flowing water of an actual waterfall, hence her surrender. I merged 2 of my sound pieces to create the mood for this perofrmance video piece. Singing bowls played during a meditation session are used in the second half. This video was projected on the floor during my solo show in Alhamra gallery last Nov. (2014).

The bea factor is a curator of the extraordinary, people who believe in creativity, who are passionate about what they do. You were born with a passion, a talent, whether you see it or not. Ask around, those who want your best will tell you. Are you doing what you can, what you have to, or what you chose? Are these equal or opposites? In love, work, play, legacy, are you determined to live it according to what defines you? Are you changing your life in ways you always imagined? Are you about to? Join us. I want to create a community of factors that make us unstoppable.

A father bent on turning his son into a professional baseball player must deal with his son's change of heart. A father, son story about baseball, boyhood dreams and the importance of fatherhood on the development of young men. A father may only teach his son from his own book of experiences and so the cycle repeats until finally the past becomes so diluted it finds new breath. Barry Rhodes, 42 years old, an almost pro ex-pitcher and now somewhat absentee father, is bent on turning his 16-year-old son, Oliver into a professional baseball player. When Oliver has a change of heart about his passion for baseball, one of the only things they share in common, Barry struggles with Oliver's flippant attitude as well as his own feeling of inadequacy. Without consciously doing so Barry realizes that he has become the man he'd promised he'd never become, his father.

I wanted the Video to be of a teddy-bear that got lost on its way to the 'teddy bear's picnic' in the woods. Obviously this 'ted' had such an active social life that the solitude of being lost really affected her. However, the basis of the video is that in solitude we discover a 'sense of place' that only we know and only we will know. That this place is there whenever we're alone and we can't lose sight of it when busy, as in doing that we risk losing sight of ourselves. I struggled a lot with the title 'A sense of place' because, emerging from my A-levels, I'm still occasionally dazed by bright lights... despite this, I still knew that the only place I fully trusted and had always known is one inside of myself. Hence, I made my poor friend frolic like a masked monster through fields and woodland, covering her in flour, leaves, and even scrabble tiles at one point. She is so free at one point in the video that I decided I didn't want any more characters or even for her to find the rest of 'the bears' as she'd found (cheesy as it sounds) a much more valuable place. I edited the clips we made in the woods, and wrote a monologue to accompany them, which I subsequently read aloud in my room to narrate the movie. Unlike my usually much darker stuff, this film has one of the most beautiful quotes I could ever relate to myself or my understanding of a sense of place, which is "from my rotting body, flowers shall grow and I am in them and that is eternity."
