The small fishing fleet in Reposaari village harbor is still diminishing. Only two trawlers kept storm there, and the rest of boats seems to be abandoned or otherwise taken down. A handful of gulls and a little crowd of crows was taking shelter in the harbor. Filming was very hard as all equipment was buried in snow within seconds. A Holotna expedition by Jan Eerala, Makholma Finland.

Eye in eye with sappi island bulls. The highland cattles in Sappi, Luvia are working hard to remove the extreme growth of the shorelines. Sometimes they does fight for leadership. One of the bulls hit twice the Canon 5D, but without worse damage... A Holotna expedition by Jan Eerala, Makholma Finland. (Shot with Canon 5D mark2 and 50 mm 1,4 lens)

Little Marjakari reef is one of the outest and most isolated in Luvia archipelago by the Bothnian coast. For tens of years, there has been the biggest cormorant (Phalacrocorax Carbo) colony of Finland (1900 nests). The birds have been very harassed as people think they will destroy the vegetation of the reefs and eat all the fish from the sea. As they were disturbed in the beginning of the nesting season this spring, the colony moved to nearby reefs. Even for me, it was a surprise to see how fast the vegetation has renewed. A Holotna excursion to Luvia, Marjakari - 28/7/2012 - by Jan Eerala, Makholma Finland. (Done with Canon 5Dmk3 and Marantz PMD661 with BP 4025 stereomic)

After two weeks with hard winds there was one day with less blow so I take the chance to go onshore in the small and rocky reefs of Luvia archipelago. Even in the most shelter of stranding places, which was Tervakallio with the old and abandoned fishing hut, was the swell just and just acceptable. Otherwise the day was fine, warm and summer like, absolute the last day of this summer. Sailing old skiff Bris by Jan Eerala, Makholma Finland.
