With a spectacular drive and power Marius Neset and his septet venture into dynamic melodies and knotty structures. At their core they’re jazz musicians but digressions into math, avant-garde and rock is what gives the music its unpredictable and very vibrant feel.

                      10:34

from Jens U Braun / Added

Members of the Drottningholms Barockensemble gave a live performance of the master piece as part of a concert with the title "Beethovens septett i Boccherinis sällskap" refering to the other part of the concert, where Luigi Boccherini's "La Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid" was given. Beethovens work had its first time performance in 1800 and was a major success already at the time. The musical form of the piece is similar to that of a serenade and it shows some resemblance to Schuberts Octet from 1824 and a Septet by Franz Berwald from 1828.
