Students from Concordia University Irvine joined the NGO City of Refuge in a child-rescue project on Ghana's Lake Volta in May 2012. Thousands of children, some as young as four years old, work as slaves in brutal conditions on Lake Volta fishing boats. City of Refuge works to rescue these children, reunite them with their families, and when necessary provide them with a new home and rehabilitation. This video clip gives a glimpse into the heartbreaking process of interviewing children working on the lake, a first step in what is a lengthy process of negotiating with the masters and village chief for their release... Shot with an Olympus OM-D.
