        Like many teenagers, Ray Heiden & Michaela Alexander were struggling with issues like bullying, self esteem, and identity, that is until they had an incredible opportunity to turn around not just their own lives but also that of many other people. Particularly bright to begin with, they met Dr. Kathy Blohm, a psychologist from Bismarck, ND and Karen Van Fossan, a professional writer, and joined a few other teenagers in what was initially group therapy based on writing. From fearful and shut down, the teenagers became so articulate and powerful that the idea came to create a play, or a collective reading performance. “The Group that Opened the Box” was born and the young adults started sharing their challenging thoughts with a public of all ages willing to look at some of our society’s most troubling attutudes from the unfiltered perspective of teenagers. {309 North Mandan Street, Bismarck ND 58501}
