http://www.NormQuantz.com Here are two wrongs I want to correct. First, you may be told by your abuser and his family and friends that if you report the abuse you will cause the breakup of the family. Secondly, you may feel that you are bad because reporting abuse must mean you are vindictive and you only want to be good. In this video I explain why both of these are WRONG!

"I wrestle every day with feelings of shame about myself and my body. It started when I was sexually abused by my uncle at the age of six. He first told me I was beautiful, but then he turned on me later and told me I was just a fat pig. And guess what? I've actually become a fat pig - more than 40 pounds overweight! I hate this about myself, and I hate him for making me do this. I want to be free, but don't know where to begin. Can you help me?" Answered by A. David Wall, PhD. "My sister was raped when she was younger and soon after developed an eating disorder, which she still has now, ten years later. She has tried different forms of therapy, counseling, etc. for her eating disorder and gotten better from time to time, but she still struggles with flashbacks from the event, which she says trigger her anorexia (and cutting). I'm assuming this is a form of post-traumatic stress disorder. Is that right? If so, what can she do?" Answered by Kevin Wandler, MD. Need help with eating/body image issues? "I was abused when I was younger, both by my father and by my uncle. The shame that these events caused still lives in me today, and has led to a lot of destructive behaviors, including an eating disorder, and cutting. Over the years, I've managed to become numb to things - kind of a defense mechanism I gess against anyone who might want to hurt me again. Now I'm at the point where I just don't feel anything. Not hope - not love - not fear - not joy. I just feel totally empty. I know I've done really bad things - things that God is probably not happy about, but do you think He still wants to help me? And how can I even feel him when I seem to have successfully turned off all of my feelings for so long?" Answered by Jeff Helton, MA Theology. Need help with eating/body image issues?
