A festive feast of carolling subversion organised by 'Shell Out Sounds' outside the National Gallery, in protest at Shell sponsorship of the 'Rembrandt: Late Works' exhibition and at the privatisation of museum jobs. 'Shell Out Sounds' (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shell-Out-Sounds/145359728942410) are part of the Art Not Oil coalition (http://artnotoil.org.uk). The carolling protest was in solidarity with PCS members at the National Gallery who are resisting privatisation of their jobs. This is a very short (15 second) video I made for my instagram page. It is the hardest 15 seconds I've ever had to edit so far as I was trying to cut to the beats. The video was taken in Seria, Brunei, a sleepy little oil town.

I was hired by Shell's outside counsel to produce an animation that explained how a fire happened in their DU-5 Unit. While no one was injured, it was a near thing and the fire had to be left to burn itself out. An investigation by Shell pointed to a 1.5 inch pipe thought to have been "blinded" or capped on both ends, but which had been sawed through, permitting unrefined or "off-spec product" to be pumped over hot running machinery beneath a four story pipe rack. The piping that was there at the time has since be rebuilt to a different configuration but I worked off drawings and interviews with Shell personal that read to arcane drafted imagery and drafted blueprints that had been hand lettered and drawn years ago.
