    Great efforts require collaboration, but if you had to credit a single person for the recent fracking ban voted on by the Butte County Board of Supervisors in Northern California, it would have to be Dave Garcia. The man affectionately known as “Ranger Dave”, has always been a nature lover and someone who wanted to be of service. After a career as a police officer, then a park ranger, Dave joined the Sierra Club, eventually chairing its local Yahi Chapter. It was during this tenure that Dave hosted a viewing of the film "Gasland", and became aware of the risks of fracking, a dangerous and highly polluting practice of extracting the last traces of fossil fuels by using massive amounts of explosives and chemical-laced water. Since then he has made it his mission to utilize his so-called "retirement" years to educate his community and protect his region. {917 Kelly Ridge Rd, Oroville, CA 95966}

Rueben George, Sundance Chief of Tsleil-Wautuuth Nation addresses a huge turnout of dedicated supporters at the Take Back Our Port rally in New Westminster BC.. The issue being fought against is turning the BC coastline into a major shipping hub for US Coal exports to China. Have we no morals shipping a product banned in this country to another country already suffering from extreme air pollution problems. Is it ok to look the other way in exchange for a few jobs and contribute to environmental destruction globally. It seems once again many of our elected officials think the golden hand shake is worth any environmental price to be paid. Time for people to standup and take control of their "Public Servants" ! from KeepEmStraight / Added

                  Councillor Jamie McEvoy expresses his concerns about allowing the BC Coastline to become a shipping port along with the proposed exports of US coal to foreign interests. Selling toxic materials such as Coal and Asbestos to other parts of the world is simply not an acceptable standard for Canadians to be setting. Sustainability is action and awareness of the impact of our actions today on the health, environment and future on ourselves and generations to come globally. . Environmental aspects of sustainability at the civic level include land use, transportation, air quality, water, waste management, energy conservation, and biodiversity. Beyond those areas of jurisdiction is the elected official's moral responsibility to the planet and universal well-being. Well said Mr. McEvoy ! from KeepEmStraight / Added

                    Sub Titled: "We Must Stand United" Dr. Expresses deep concern for the negative health impact of allowing the BC coastline to become a major shipping port to export US coal to foreign countries. All the risks involved including environmental damage for creating relatively few jobs just makes no logical sense whatsoever. Proposals to expand the export of US thermal coal from Metro Vancouver put our communities and the environment at risk from exposure to coal dust and diesel exhaust. This exported coal, when burned, increases the risk of runaway climate change and generates trans-ocean air pollution that comes back to our communities.
