Every now and then I Take my camera, go to the local beach and limit myself to a small area - 30 meters or less - and shot whatever there is around. This time I was shooting Raw - and i think it shows. Conformed and graded on daVinci Resolve with film convert. Edited on FCP X 10.1. Music: "Mars" by Culprate (http://soundcloud.com/culprate)

Had to check how my 60D shots RAW at high Iso. Nothing works better than two kids at evening. Almost everything is at 1600 - and some shots at 3200. I Also used Auto ETTR, which seems to work great. Conformed and graded using Davinci Resolve lite, edited in FCP X. Unusually for me, I didn't use Film Convert, because I wanted to see how the high Iso noise came out. I have to say I'm pretty amazed at the quality I got from this humble camera - and at how easy it was conforming and grading these shots in Resolve. Sure, there is lots of noise - but it looks very natural to me. However: the shots using the magic zoom function (kind of crop mode) don't look so good at high ISO, especially at 3200, and I can only recommend using it at low ISO. Comments are welcome! Well, you see, there was a storm - it was raining, the wind was strong and it was bitter cold. I could barely get out of the car - Most of the shakes and vibrations are from the wind rocking my car. So I shot from inside the car most of the time. See the beautiful sunset after this storm here: https://vimeo.com/82076874. Shot Raw on a 60D. Conformed and graded using Davinci Resolve lite & Film Convert, Edited in FCP X. Shooting RAW, I couldn't record audio, so I use all kinds of effects & foley from FCP X. Coments are welcome! Music: "Dreaming" by Lee Rosevere (http://members.shaw.ca/happypuppyrecords/index.html)

Stormy weather, shot from my home. Canon 60D RAW, Converted to CinemaDNG with RAWmagic, conformed and graded in Davinci Resolve (lite) with Film Convert, Edited in FCP X, Exported and cropped with compressor. The 60D cannot shot RAW wider than 1724 Pixles, and even at 1:2.35 aspect ratio can only shot for 5 seconds - but damn, that 5 seconds are SO much better than the regular h264... You can download the ProRes Proxy file to see the original quality (which is higher)

This was done as an exercise with Davinci Resolve, Film Convert and round-tripping to FCP X and back, and as a test of RAW vs h264 - This is the h264 version. Raw Version is here: https://vimeo.com/81285050 Shot on the beach with a canon 60D and magic Lantern. The 60D only lets me capture up to about 5 seconds, and only at 1724x732 (or less). Also, with RAW I get some nasty black pixels, which i can't se any other way (not with h264 or stills - not even with RAW stills). If you compare the two versions, the difference are quiet clear (apart from the nasty pixels) - Be sure to download the original video. I'll leave it to you to decide. PLEASE: This is actuualy my FIRST RAW video, done quiet a long time ago - but still getting lots of views. Please check my other videos for more and even better examples. Thanks! Apparently, the problem originates from newer version on Magic Lantern. Downloading and older Version solved the problem. Nice!
