This little short film is the first project that I did at the Nashville Film Institute. It is a silent film about a special day in the life of a blind man. Our time limit was 3 minutes and all the sound was added in post. It was all filmed on the Panasonic HVX in just 8 hours. This small production is only the beginning for me.

Students in Media 8 were asked to examine basic story telling elements - in particular the concept of characters pursuing objectives through strategies. These strategies were to be expressed in dramatic beats of action and reaction. They were provided with a scenario - a struggle to obtain pastries from a bake sale. The class was broken into five teams, and each team was given the responsibility for creating their scene - an encounter in conflict at the bake sale table. They had to brainstorm and select visual jokes to use in the scenes. From these elements a screenplay was developed that gave a setup for the scenario, transitions that took us from one scene to the next, and the scenes themselves, before finishing with the battle that concludes the piece. Each team then organized props, costumes, and planned their shots. The five scenes were shot simultaneously in different locations and upon completion of their filming the teams assembled a cut version of their footage. These scenes were later integrated into the opening, transitional, and closing elements of the piece. Music and sound effects were added at this time. Note that two different classes worked on this project, creating two films. Each film shares a common plot structure, but the individual beats of action are unique to each piece.

A dark tale of guilt, insomnia, murder & regret. This stop frame animation is inspired by film noir classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and the modern film noir The Machinist. I was asked to produce an animation based on the concept of environment for a university hand in. I chose my own home as the environment and used some of my many models and toys as stars in this production. This is my first attempt at stop frame animation, which was challenging but a lot of fun! The music used here is Supermarket Goods Escape and Terrorize Local Shoppers and rose to build Harpsichords in their lofts by The Fucked Up Beat.
