Over 1000 people showed up at the capitol yesterday to silently protest a number of bills attacking women's reproductive rights. It was humbling to see so many out and for the most part silent (you can even hear my breathing in parts of the video! that's how silent it was).

This video presents traces of a muffled protest which spread from Cockatoo Island around Australia. As both sides of politics sought to profit by invoking fear of asylum seekers during the 2010 election campaign, boat-people.org invited friends and strangers across the nation to appear in public spaces in a collective display of dismay. The work was developed during the 2010 Cockatoo Island Artist Residency Program. boat-people.org is an art gang which has been making public work together around race, nation, borders and history since 2001. The group's work primarily exists as ephemeral events in cityscapes, but has also appeared in exhibitions around Australia, in the US and Germany.

11th May 2013, 9pm at Town Hall, this is what I see & feel about our silent protest. About 200 Malaysians in Sydney came to a silent protest organised less than 48 hours via Facebook and word of mouth. I was there to give my support as a Malaysian & this is a short video footage dedicated to those who shows their support in the rally. Well done, everyone!! Special thanks to Jared Wong, as the main speaker of the night, he gave a wonderful speech throughout the event for the people; "We are here taking stand for democracy." "We are all Malaysian. Kita semua rakyat Malaysia, tidak kira bangsa, kaum, atau agama." "This is not a 'Chinese Tsunami but a tsunami of the Malaysian people." Lastly, thank you to Siera for initiating & organising the 511 Ubah event in Sydney. Ubah! Ubah! Edited by Jun Music: Ubah (Malay & Chinese ver.)

Silent Protest is a five minute video artwork made by photographer/film-maker and lecturer Brent Meistre. In the work Meistre performs two songs, one by the music group 'Belle and Sebastian' and another by 'The Cranberries', in a discourse and interplay between himself and his double. Meistre is presented as a preacher/politician or figure in mourning in a desolate landscape, who is reading a speech to an absent audience. The work attempts to evoke the complexities and the depth of issues around sexual violence in South Africa and the impossibility of representation, particularly of the number of victims in isolated and rural communities. The work was made specifically for the Rhodes University Day of Silent Protest in 2013

This amazing protest action of Standing in Stillness, happened in Istanbul and other citys all Turkey and Europe, started by Choreographer Erdem Gunduz. It's part of the 30 min documentary "One Million Steps", which was shot during the days of the protest in Istanbul. To tell the size of the protest and the amount of people who where involved, Director Eva Stotz and Editor Georg Petzold are urgently looking for more footage of the "Standing Protest". Yes? You did shoot something like that? Please get in touch, and make the "One Million Steps" Team very happy! Email: mail@evastotz.com No matter the city, no matter the camera you used, even smartphone footage is interesting. It can be everything of the silent protest (faces, the crowds, their feet, Wideshots, Close Ups, Low Angle, High...) Preferably shots are stable, and don't involve too much movement More about the One Million Steps Project www.onemillionsteps-project.com One Million Steps is an experiment with tap dance, performed by Marije Nie, and film, by Eva Stotz, set in Istanbul. We follow the vibrant rhythmic beats of Marije's feet on the streets of Istanbul, seeking interaction with the people of the city. How do people move through this city in flux, rapidly transforming from an ancient culture into a global metropolis? Suddenly the beat of Istanbul changes, and loud voices arise, demanding to be heard. One Million Steps tells the unexpected stories of these days of protest in Istanbul, with rhythm as the universal language, representing the millions of steps we take in our lives - and the freedom, we want for them. We are happy to hear from you! mail@evastotz.com, marijenie@gmail.com

Silent protest is a nonviolent method of protesting often used by the followers of the green wave. Iranian demonstrators are gathering in big silent groups with a sign of green color. They are just walking along the streets without any parols. This happened in Iran shortly after the second presidential elections.
