As demand for transportation and mobile consumer electronics increase -- in both emerging markets and developed nations -- and the environmental impact of traditional energy sources become more apparent, the need for energy storage will continue to grow. A key mineral in the advancement of this global trend is lithium, a metal that has unparalleled energy storage capabilities. Lithium batteries are directly responsible for powering the technology of the future, from tablets and smartphones, to electric vehicles and smart grids.

        • SMORCH - Smart Orchestra

from Joren De Weerdt Added 120 0 0

SMORCH is a Kinect-driven application where the user is the conductor of a rather unusual orchestra. Why? The user is not conducting people, but smartphones (in the video also computers due to lack of smartphones ... The original title of this project was Smartphone Orchestra, but not to exclude computers and tablets, I shortened it to "Smart" instead of "Smartphone"). The purpose of this application is that people can join the orchestra by surfing to a website with their device. An instrument will be designated to them by the conductor. More people means more music, and obviously, more fun!

                  from Andrea Cohen-B Added 188 0 0

"First We Make Brains, Then We Make Love: The Coming Fusion of Inner and Outer Technology" Jeff gave this talk at the first "Dreamers, Visionaries, Renegades" Festival in Toronto, Sept 2012. Modern communications technology shapes our minds. This can be problematic; too often it fixates, alienates and scatters the mind. But the news isn't all bad. That technology is such a powerful shaper is also an opportunity. It means, if we design technology in line with principles of mental health (and meditation insights in particular), then our smart phones and laptops and interfaces might become a force for psychological - and spiritual - good.
