In 2014, the SEPLAA Foundation worked with great dedication with the youth of Bahawalpur, South Punjab to counter violent extremism through the promotion of positive activities such as training for and setting up of social enterprises. During this project we trained 480 students in social entrepreneurship for peace in 8 incubation cycles. During the project 1200 students were expected to be given induction seminars but we have covered almost 1700 students. A TOT with the 18 winning youth social entrepreneurs was held to train them to further train at least 480 underprivileged youth. 16 seminars were then held with underprivileged youth in various locations in Bahawalpur and 497 underprivileged youth were reached. 16 enterprises were given legal advise and 16 websites were also created. The events were widely marketed and covered on social media, blogs and through the website. The monthly reports of November and December have also been submitted to show the glowing steady progress of the project despite innumerable set backs and problems on the ground. Over 11,000 indirect beneficiaries have benefited to date despite numerous challenges faced both in Bahawalpur as well as in Lahore. In December 2014, the young social entrepreneurs trained under the SEPLAA Umeed Jawan project traveled from Bahawalpur to Lahore to attend the annual SEPLAA Conference where 16 projects were showcased through displays and presentations. 16 websites have also been launched on the internet in January 2015.

Overview: Infinite 8 Institute (I8I) and the Non-cognitive Development Institute-Alliance (NDIA), a collaborative of local/national consultants and partnering organizations, seek support for the world’s first Social Impact Bond (SIB) aimed at violence prevention. The SIB will serve a total of 80 residents annually for three years in the target area of Northeast Omaha. The area was chosen because of its immense need and opportunity to yield substantial results. After completion of the development program, participants will demonstrate proficiency in character, intrinsic motivation, and emerging technologies, preparing them adequately to compete in modern global human capital pools. Definition: A Social Impact Bond - also known as a Pay for Success Bond, is a contract with the public, private, and philanthropic sector in which a commitment is made to pay for improved social outcomes that result in public sector savings. Objectives: I8I seeks supporters to help us create history by assisting with the capital crowd-funding campaign to fuel our $1.5M Violence Prevention Model, previously recommended by the U.S. Federal Department of Health & Human Services (see below), using the SIB as an alternate and conservative financial instrument to do so. NE Taxpayer Cost-savings: The violence prevention SIB is projected to save Nebraskans $7.2M in public expenditures by preventative programming. Partners: The Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services, Charles Drew Health Center, The Butler-Gast YMCA, Mad Dads of Omaha, RESPECT, the Bryant Center, Element Learning Center, North High School,Metropolitan Area Transit Agency, Alpha Bitcoin, Seraaj Family Homes, University of Nebraska at Omaha,Practical Parenting Consulting, Heartland Family Services, Crowdfundamentals, Julia DaGaza Marketing Services, and the Lozier Foundation.
