On January 24, 2012, Urban Habitat's Bay Area Social Equity Caucus (SEC) held its inaugural Equity Forum at the California Endowment's Oakland Conference Center. More than 80 people representing 50 Bay Area organizations attended the event and identified 70 issues, policies, and campaigns as “most important” for low-income communities and communities of color in 2012-13. The Equity Forum yielded valuable information about the many local and regional planning issues the Bay Area’s low-income communities and communities of color are facing and the priority policies and campaigns regional equity allies will be focusing on in 2012-13 to address those issues. The SEC will take a more in-depth look at those issues, policies, and campaigns at its 2012 State of the Region conference, which will take place on April 26, 2012 at the California Endowment’s Oakland Conference Center.

REAL ESTATE 4 RAN$OM outlines a genuine alternative to the global property speculation mantra that continues to force so many into debt or dingy homes. Doubling the pressure, the tax game has become just that, with tax havens a favoured option for the wealthy. The result - we are taxing the wrong things, causing more problems whilst bankrupting once proud economies. A systemic change is essential if we are to avoid these damaging boom-bust-bailouts. https://www.facebook.com/realestate4ransom Co-Directors - Gavin Emmanuel (foregroundmedia.com/) & Karl Fitzgerald. Footage - much from the vimeo community :) Listen to the weekly Renegade Economists podcast http://www.earthsharing.org.au/renegade-economists/ More details - http://realestate4ransom.com/film/
