There has been an increasing interest in light-weight UI for devices these days. There are many different languages, engines, and frameworks which can be used to employ a lightweight UI. Node.js is just one of those and many of these can be installed with just a single command line operation with our package manager. Watch a live demo of web-based UI on Toradex Embedded Computer on Modules using Node.js & Socket.io and how they port seamlessly across devices. Make sure you check out our exciting range of System on Modules at the following link: https://www.toradex.com/computer-on-modules

"What's the difference between Socket.IO and PubNub?" is definitely an FAQ here at PubNub. Most of the time, developers are looking for a way to send and receive data in realtime to build realtime web, mobile, and IoT applications. But PubNub and Socket.IO are actually very different. In this video (and here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16393828/socket-io-with-pubnub-why), we explain how. -- Music: "4227" by Segoe

I'm designing an Installation where users can send a message of color to the LED arrangment and then get another color with a message back. Those colors come from the UI on mobile node.js app that sents goodWill messages to a xmas tree, so after u compose a new msg and select a color for it you can send it to the tree and see how it climbs to the top with your color and msg and after that you will see a different color coming down and receiving a random message on your phone with that color as background or so. An Adobe AIR app manages the barcode reading and the arduino messaging, I could code that on node directly but I'm lazy and I like flash. I'm almost ready with all the system, but the illusion of magic will be complete when I match the colors that go up/down on the tree are somehow close to the ones you are seing on the app.
