Description: I had a chance to go visit one of the greatest cities this summer. Right when I got of the plane and arrived downtown New York, I took my camera and strolled out through the busy streets of New York City. I wanted to capture the great culture and street aesthetic of New York and I think it turned out really well. The video includes recordings from both Manhattan and Brooklyn, where I spend hours capturing the culture and everyday life of native New Yorkers. Title: The Street Aesthetic of New York City Filmed and Edited by: Christian Andersen Shot with: Canon EOS 550D Music: The XX - Intro Note: This video was only made for non-commercial reasons and to train my editing skills.

We asked the same question and it took us somewhere new. Gone were the lazy days of summer. A cool breeze swept the streets with leaves under foot and the familiar hustle of the city. Welcome to autumn in New York. It’s a simple question and the answers can lead us anywhere. So go ahead, ask yourself… Visit http://fiftypeopleonequestion.com and post your response. We also asked this question in New Orleans, LA. Check it out: http://vimeo.com/1737450 We asked a new question in Brooklyn: http://vimeo.com/2540216

Brilliant Noise by Semiconductor: Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt Avaliable on DVD! with 12 alternate soundtracks http://www.semiconductorfilms.com/WorldsInFluxDVD.html Brilliant Noise takes us into the data vaults of solar astronomy. After sifting through hundreds of thousands of computer files, made accessible via open access archives, Semiconductor have brought together some of the sun's finest unseen moments. These images have been kept in their most raw form, revealing the energetic particles and solar wind as a rain of white noise. This grainy black and white quality is routinely cleaned up by NASA, hiding the processes and mechanics in action behind the capturing procedure. Most of the imagery has been collected as single snapshots containing additional information, by satellites orbiting the Earth. They are then reorganised into their spectral groups to create time-lapse sequences. The soundtrack highlights the hidden forces at play upon the solar surface, by directly translating areas of intensity within the image brightness into layers of audio manipulation and radio frequencies. Lots more info here: http://www.semiconductorfilms.com/root/Brilliant_Noise/BNoise.htm ...this version suffers a bit from the internet compression. The original version is much better.

Comet ISON (C/2012 S1) captured by the SOHO spacecraft as it dives into the sun's corona and in a dramatic action a fraction of the icy body's tail returns from the hell the next day and fades away forever in the Solar System. I edited this stunning sequence of images (from Nov 27-Dec01, 2013) released by SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory), leveled, enlarged and sharpened them for full HD viewing. Enjoy! See the changing speed of the comet near the sun. Kepler could be very glad to see this! The effect of solar wind streams on the comet brightness is interesting. http://www.isoncampaign.org/karl/a-trail-of-questions

When we opened our SoHo store in 2008, we were introduced to the resourceful culture of "curb-mining": the act of finding furniture and art on the street. Now that a year has passed, we decided to conduct a curb-mining experiment of our own to celebrate our one-year anniversary in New York. On November 4-5, 25 Real Good Chairs were dropped around NYC, free for the take. Many were GPS-enabled. Watch the film to see what happened. like me on https://www.facebook.com/cneistat i made this movie in 2007 but never published it. steve jobs' death reminded me of it. in 2000 i was living in a trailer park when apple released the iMac DV, the first consumer machine that could edit video. i maxed out my credit card and got one. no film school, it was that computer that got me into films and provided me with the career i have today. sad to lose steve jobs.
