The sun is our life force, following on from Earthlapse https://vimeo.com/44987521 I was inspired by Nasa to do more, so this is a short glimpse, time lapse of the most recent footage (2nd-3rd July 2012) of our sun taken today from http://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/ By total coincidence this capture of the sun was of one the biggest solar storms releasing a giant solar flare http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/03/solar-flare-2012-sun-storm-fourth-of-july_n_1645606.html I downloaded around 84 4K images to make this short film, this image has been graded and twixtored so that you can see the hotter areas and flares clearer. Solar flares can flare out over 1mn kms greater than the distance between the Earth and the Moon, releasing a Photon storm that can travel as fast as 1/3 the speed of light causing damage to satellites etc. within minutes of flaring up. remember those beautiful green and red auroras above the Earth's Atmosphere that you can see in all those ISS Nasa timelapses, thoses are the collisions of high energy particles such as the photons from the solar winds colliding at our magnetic poles. The Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) by Nasa is really the most remarkable website showcasing our sun. You can see live images and also create films online, search for events like the partial eclipse of the sun by the moon from the telescope and the transit of Venus across it.
