Getting Smarter About the Smart Grid (TRT 78 minutes) is a video discussion related to the new report “Getting Smarter About the Smart Grid” published by the National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy. Hosted by Camilla Rees, MBA of ElectromagneticHealth.org, this film features the new report’s author, Dr. Timothy Schoechle, PhD, an expert in smart grid technologies; Duncan Campbell, Esq., visionary thinker on the new energy economy, and, Jim Turner, Esq., Chairman of the National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy. “Getting Smarter About the Smart Grid” states smart grid federal funding has been misspent on obsolete technologies using taxpayer and ratepayer dollars, and that these technologies—in particular the ‘smart meter’—will not lead to sustainability, as many state, local and federal government officials have been led to believe. See Press Release for the report at: http://www.GettingSmarterAbouttheSmartGrid.org

Changes in the Sun's output can endanger health, power supplies and satellite systems. To prepare adequately for such events and to make judicious use of solar energy we need to investigate the Sun's 4.7 billion year history. The transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website: http://www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/the-inconsistent-sun All our lectures are available for free download from the Gresham College website, in video, audio or text formats: gresham.ac.uk Gresham College professors and guest speakers have been giving free public lectures in central London since 1597. from Bruno Degazio Added 123 1 0

Solar Flow is a visual music animation which builds on NASA's spectacular footage from the Solar Dynamics Observatory of the great solar flare of June 7, 2011. The piece employs particle systems in both the visual design and as a compositional technique in the accompanying music. The music is scored for string orchestra, three harps, timpani and percussion. A unique application of the particle system concept to traditional motivic composition was employed in its creation. In essence, each individual string instrument becomes a motivic "particle" which has a unique lifetime and musical trajectory. The composition is the result of the aggregate effect of these dozens of particles. The visuals are synthesized from the classic particle system in Apple's Quartz Composer software. The principal determinants of visual intensity, namely particle density, brightness, and lifetime, were created from the same data which created the musical particles heard simultaneously. The output of these various particle systems are further processed through symmetrical reflection. NASA's spectacular high-definition footage of the solar eruption of June 7, 2011 also appears at several times. The version offered for presentation at TES 2012 was synthesized using state-of-the-art samples and physical modelling techniques, and has been specially recorded in 16-channel octaphonic sound for presentation in NAISA's unique audio-visual environment. The image was rendered from Quartz Composer in full High Definition using the author's custom software. This version is revision 2.32, Nov. 2012
