10TH ANNUAL NAPA CAR SHOW SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NEW JERSEY MAY 3, 2015 As has been the case since it's inception, the NAPA Show at the South Plainfield store, was a smashing success. Attendance was slightly off from last year, which may have been due to last year's Show being held on Memorial Day Weekend, so more people were available to attend last year, however the turnout was still strong, and, the Show promoter, Richie Flash put on what will be remembered as another great NAPA Car Show The weather though, like last year, was perfect, Richie Flash, who was also the DJ, spun the tunes, and entertained the crowd, several Door Prize drawing were held throughout the day, Bill's Hotdog House fed the hungry masses, and the NAPA Store opened its doors to participants and spectators alike, providing access to their vast parts stash. The Show only asks for a donation to enter, and the money goes to a worthy charitable recipient, and this Show is certainly a must attend event every year.

The South Plainfield Rescue Squad held their 7th annual on July 20, 2014, and though officially the Show did not start until 11:00 A.M., by 8:30 A.M. there were a dozen or more vehicles already on the Show Field. By the official start time, the number of vehicles on the Show Field had grown significantly, probably topping out at around 50-60 vehicles, based on a quick estimate of the crowd. The weather for this year's show was pleasant, with warm temps, but very tolerable humidity levels, which certainly helped generate the participation levels seen at year's Show. The judging was handled by the folks from the Lincoln Tech Diesel school in South Plainfield New Jersey, with music by JVE Entertainment Partners, and the Squad Members manning the Grill, serving up reasonably priced Hotdogs and Hamburgers. The festivities ended around 3:30 P.M., and another great Show became history, with all looking forward to next year's Show.

The South Plainfield Rescue Squad held their 6th annual Car Show on June 21, 2013, and while things got off to a slow start, probably due to threatening skies in the early morning, by around 11:00 A.M., the show field was filled, and the overflow field had several vehicles in it. The Show organizers do a nice job with this Show, adding such niceties as 2 free Hotdogs, or Hamburgers for each Vehicle Owner. Trophy presentations went off around 3:30 P.M., which was a bit later than promised, but that was the only glitch I noticed at this otherwise well run event.

Custom Orthotics - Podiatrist in Edison, Monroe, South Plainfield NJ - Nrupa Shah, DPM – Orthotic Dr Nrupa Shah of Affiliated Foot and Ankle Care discusses how custom orthotics can help correct biomechanical problems of the foot to alleviate heel pain and other foot problems. http://www.footandanklenj.com Orthotics, also known as orthoses, refers to any device inserted into a shoe, ranging from felt pads to custom-made shoe inserts that correct an abnormal or irregular, walking pattern. Sometimes called arch supports, orthotics allow people to stand, walk, and run more efficiently and comfortably. While over-the-counter orthotics are available and may help people with mild symptoms, they normally cannot correct the wide range of symptoms that prescription foot orthoses can since they are not custom made to fit an individual's unique foot structure. Orthotic devices come in many shapes, sizes, and materials and fall into three main categories: those designed to change foot function, those that are primarily protective in nature, and those that combine functional control and protection. Rigid Orthotics Rigid orthotic devices are designed to control function and are used primarily for walking or dress shoes. They are often composed of a firm material, such as plastic or carbon fiber. Rigid orthotics are made from a mold after a podiatrist takes a plaster cast or other kind of image of the foot. Rigid orthotics control motion in the two major foot joints that lie directly below the ankle joint and may improve or eliminate strains, aches, and pains in the legs, thighs, and lower back. Soft Orthotics Soft orthotics are generally used to absorb shock, increase balance, and take pressure off uncomfortable or sore spots. They are usually effective for diabetic, arthritic, and deformed feet. Soft orthotics are typically made up of soft, cushioned materials so that they can be worn against the sole of the foot, extending from the heel past the ball of the foot, including the toes. Like rigid orthotics, soft orthotics are also made from a mold after a podiatrist takes a plaster cast or other kind of image of the foot. Semi-Rigid Orthotics Semi-rigid orthotics provide foot balance for walking or participating in sports. The typical semi-rigid orthotic is made up of layers of soft material, reinforced with more rigid materials. Semi-rigid orthotics are often prescribed for children to treat flatfoot and in-toeing or out-toeing disorders. These orthotics are also used to help athletes mitigate pain while they train and compete. Visit our website: http://www.footandanklenj.com

Foot Warts - Podiatrist in Edison, Monroe, South Plainfield NJ - Nrupa Shah, DPM – Plantar Wart Dr Nrupa Shah of Affiliated Foot and Ankle Care discusses the symptoms, causes and treatments for Foot Wart (Plantar Warts). http://www.footandanklenj.com Most foot warts are harmless, even though they may be painful. They are often mistaken for corns or calluses, which are layers of dead skin that build up to protect an area which is being continuously irritated. A wart, however, is caused by a viral infection which invades the skin through small or invisible cuts and abrasions. Foot warts are generally raised and fleshy and can appear anywhere on the foot or toes. Occasionally, warts can spontaneously disappear after a short time, and then, just as frequently, they recur in the same location. If left untreated, warts can grow to an inch or more in circumference and can spread into clusters of warts. Children, especially teenagers, tend to be more susceptible to warts than adults. Plantar warts, also known as verrucas, appear on the soles of the feet and are one of several soft tissue conditions that can be quite painful. Unlike other foot warts, plantar warts tend to be hard and flat, with a rough surface and well-defined boundaries. They are often gray or brown (but the color may vary), with a center that appears as one or more pinpoints of black. Plantar warts are often contracted by walking barefoot on dirty surfaces or littered ground. The virus that causes plantar warts thrives in warm, moist environments, making infection a common occurrence in public pools and locker rooms. Like any other infectious lesion, plantar warts are spread by touching, scratching, or even by contact with skin shed from another wart. The wart may also bleed, another route for spreading. Plantar warts that develop on the weight-bearing areas of the foot (the ball or heel of the foot) can cause a sharp, burning pain. Pain occurs when weight is brought to bear directly on the wart, although pressure on the side of a wart can create equally intense pain. To prevent the spread of warts, follow these tips: • Avoid direct contact with warts, both from other persons or from other parts of the body. • Avoid walking barefoot, except on sandy beaches. • Change your shoes and socks daily. • Check your children's feet periodically. • Keep your feet clean and dry. It is important to note that warts can be very resistant to treatment and have a tendency to reoccur. Over-the-counter foot wart treatments are usually ineffective because their use can inadvertently destroy surrounding healthy tissue. Please contact our office for help in effectively treating warts. Our practice is expert in recommending the best treatment for each patient, ranging from prescription ointments or medications to, in the most severe cases, laser cautery. Ankle Sprain - Podiatrist in Edison, Monroe and South Plainfield NJ - Nrupa Shah, DPM Sprain Ankle Dr Nrupa Shah of Affiliated Foot and Ankle Care discusses the symptoms, causes and treatments for Ankle Sprain. http://www.footandanklenj.com sprains are caused by an unnatural twisting or force on the ankle bones of the foot, which may result in excessive stretching or tearing of one or more ligaments on the outside of the ankle. The severity of the sprain can impact the degree of damage as well as the type and duration of treatment. If not properly treated, ankle sprains may develop into long-term problems. Primary symptoms of ankle sprains are pain following a twist or injury, swelling, and bruising. Treatment includes resting and elevating the ankle and applying ice to reduce swelling. Compressive bandages also may be used to immobilize and support the injury during healing. Serious ankle sprains, particularly among competitive athletes, may require surgery to repair and tighten the damaged ligaments. To prevent ankle sprains, try to maintain strength, balance, and flexibility in the foot and ankle through exercising, stretching, and wearing well-fitted shoes.
