FREE DINNER, Sunday Evenings at 5:30 pm! 12921 S. Lewis St. Garden Grove, 92840. At the Tree of Life Community, we believe everyone is in “recovery.” We have all lost something we need, and in many cases have given up hope of ever recovering it. Circumstances seem kinder to some than to others, and some bear greater wounds or are more fragmented – often to the extent that it is obvious – and so we self-medicate or seek other means of disguising or repressing our symptoms. Those whose wounds or fragmentation are apparent – or even dangerous – to others seem doomed to either constant relapses into their pathology, or rigorous attention to formal “recovery” disciplines, which, although essential to the process of healing and wholeness, result in a life that is far less than God has promised, and indeed holds in store for his kids. We believe recovery goes well beyond managing unhealthy pathologies, and breaks through into experiencing the huge, abundant life God intends. What we’re really after is life – the life we should be living, but don’t know how. We chase it the best we know how, and are disappointed when it remains ever-elusive. God wants to form us (well, perhaps re-form us might be more accurate) into uniquely gifted individuals, equipped for Kingdom of Heaven work – stepping up as light bearers, friends to the wounded and troubled, and approachable, humble, loving people. People overflowing with life! We don’t know of anyone who is beyond that potential – it is the fingerprint of God, if now only a dim hope driven down and hidden in the depths of a human soul. As a young gathering of God’s family, we are still exploring how best to serve and usher people into their calling and role in God’s family, especially across such a vast cross-section of life and experience. While it is our hope to challenge all of these – and more – conditions, our focus will shift according to the gifts and needs of those God brings to the Tree of Life Community. WHEN: SUNDAYS Eating Together from 5:30 to 6 pm Celebrating Together from 6 to 6:45 pm Groups from 6:45 to 7:30 pm If you are interested in being involved in any way, shape or form, please contact Mark VanDruff, our Recovered Life pastor, mark@treeoflifeoc.org.

Our hearts are filled with thankfulness to the Lord! We're thankful for each of our students, our wonderfully supportive families, our dedicated alumni, and the freedom that we have to exist as a Christian school in our community. This video was originally presented at a Wheaton Christian Grammar School chapel on November 6, 2013.

In this message, "The Shattered Paradigm," from the Door of Faith Church in Somerville, join with us as Tim Inglis talks about how God broke down and then reformed his whole idea of what spiritual formation means. In this message we will view spiritual formation from the view point of having a kingdom mindset, and we will discover that spiritual formation has nothing at all to do with personal development.

A reflective journal employing the ancient Christian practice of Lectio Divina to redress the imbalance of devotional resources toward a solely intellectual ascent to God. The Spirit speaks directly to our heart at any moment and we learn to discern the voice of our Father as He reveals Himself in the Scriptures, Jesus Christ and the world around us. (I'm relaunching this resource under a different name for Creatives in the near future).

Pastor-to-Pastor Initiatives and Urbana Seminary hosted a two-day conference with Pastor John Piippo who came to us from Monroe, Michigan. His educational background is a Ph D in philosophical theology from Northwestern University. Thirty-six years ago, Piippo sense the Lord calling him to a deeper prayer life. Along the way, he's devoted his Tuesdays to prayer alone. He spoke with us on September 20-21 at Stone Creek Church on the subject of "Abiding in Christ." Much of the format of the conference was not well suited for video capture, but we have posted the final 45 minute "seminary crash course" on spiritual formation with which he concluded the conference. You can follow John at www.johnpiippo.com.
