    • Blood Brothers - a Sci-Fi short film

      from Lydia Kurnia Added 5,998 40 69

After a long hiatus, finally, here I am :) Reason for hiding: I've been working on a little short film - my first one, so I am both nervous of your reception, and proud of having completed it. I made this one specifically for the 2009 Australian Tropfest film festival but it didn't make it to the finals so here I am, just sharing it with you for the love of low-budget (AU$70) filmmaking :) But it wasn't all for loss. Blood Brothers will be aired in Plan9 Science Fiction film festival in Hungary in May 2009. Enjoy! http://www.plan9.hu/ Special thanks to my husband Glenn Thomas (Director of Photography), my brother Ivan Kurnia (Music Composer), my friends: Robert Eror and Diego Piatta (the Actors), all the FWO friends who helped review the script, and all the wonderful friends and family whose words of encouragement and support helped make this movie possible. I present to you - BLOOD BROTHERS. "In the future, the government's Special Intelligence Unit experiments on a drug that enables humans to penetrate the souls of the dying. Only those with the strongest minds can sustain the brain modification, and they become Mind Archivists. By rendering a state of dying, Mind Archivists cross to the Afterlife and access a window of time between life and death. This is where they gather truth of the human psyche and archive it to the Mind database. For years, Mind Archivists have served the government and helped the forensics prevent crimes ... until the Jones brothers, the first generation of Mind Archivists, discover that playing with death isn't without consequences."

      • Today in Our Backyard 040507 Hummingbirds

        from Ian Lucero Added

Hummingbirds!! You too can (depending on what kind of region you live in) attract hummingbirds using a hummingbird feeder - Kamala says: to boil up some water to kill any bad stuff. Then you mix in sugar. 1 Parts Sugar to 4 Parts Water. Some hummingbird feeder kits say to use food-coloring (red usually) to help attract the hummingbirds. DO NOT USE FOOD COLORING! It is bad for the hummingbirds. The color of the feeder is enough to attract them. Make sure also to change out the sugar water and clean the feeder once a week, otherwise mold starts to form and that won't make for a happy hummingbird. 2007 note: looks really good in quicktime.

Direction, photography, motiondesign and edit by Hugo Goudswaard. Created for fun and because I have been asked to test a macro extension tube for micro four thirds. What is special about this extension tube is that it is adjustable. The extension ring is a product by SLR magic and depending on feedback they will bring it into production. Created a breakdown of Blossom on my blog. Check http://www.beeldlab.nl/blossom-breakdown/ for info on shooting, lenses, macro ring and postproduction. from Paul Frederick Added 9,685 163 56

It's a wonderful time of year. Birds are chirping and the air is fresh and clean in the mountains! I find it very serene and peaceful. This is a collection of images I have shot in the past few weeks in Upstate New York here in the US. It's my first attempt at presenting a video in a panavison, or cinemascope widescreen format! The 2.35 aspect ratio works well for these shots, especially in HD on a BIG screen. I used my Sony EX1 and also a Canon 7D camera. Lenses used were my Tamron 17-55mm 2.8, and the 28-135mm kit lens. Enjoy and I hope the wide format is OK with everyone, it really is fun to compose for it! It's much more epic this way! Let me know what you think.

"Some people worry that artificial intelligence will make us feel inferior, but then, anybody in his right mind should have an inferiority complex every time he looks at a flower." - Alan C. Kay This celebration of spring was shot with my Sony V1 using a Letus Extreme 35mm adaptor. A few shots are without the Letus. I spent quite a bit of time on the audio, so I hope you have good speakers! The music is some that I have the rights to from Digital Juice and Music2Hues. Enjoy, comments are welcome!
