Is this the end of our domestic spying pal, Snuggly the Security Bear? Most likely not. Snuggly will probably still be in business and up to his usual tricks, he just may have to work with a huge telecom company or some kind of NSA-corporate partnership. 15 is an experimental narrative piece which explores the roles of technology and surveillance in society. Rooted in past information, the piece exposes little known events and facts related to these topics in both the past and the present. From that point, the story precedes to explore a potential future for society if attitudes towards technology and the governments involvement do not. Currently, technology is an ever important aspect of human life and society. The impact technology has on culture grows every day and the very nature of how people live is being influenced and mediated by technology. The awareness of technology has grown much more quickly than the knowledge of the dangers that come with it. 15 hopes to generate thought on these issues while also serving as a form of entertainment. Creating animated products was the primary objective for the second year. To achieve this, the first year for the second year was writing and developing a short and fun story about a red balloon. The brief offered flexibility on what story and theme to apply for this project. In contrast, this broken creative restraint enabled the final project to tell a comic book style movie about a red balloon recusing a blue balloon. Storyboarding and getting constructive feedback enabled the story to pitch a visual style that represents the story’s tone. This outcome’s success depended on the use of a range of animation techniques. Researching into existing animation principles defined by Disney was performed in order to gain knowledge on how to create captivating effects and movement. Both squash and anticipation were the primary techniques applied to enable the balloon to present human traits. The balloon demonstrates a range of behaviours similar to human response and actions. These technique were used to ensure to story maintained its clarity and entertaining values. Audio pieces are available on WWW.SFX.com

Beware, for they are watching. The Australian Government's newly introduced metadata retention laws are heinous and unjust. Their stringent laws allow them to retain and access ALL Australian's metadata which is an invasion of our privacy and a violation of our basic human rights. Stand up today and tell the government what you think. States across the world are appropriating technologies, which enable a relatively small elite, and their collaborators, to control and monitor the masses. Is it a coincidence that this surveillance technology is growing in parallel with economic inequality? But while the distribution of money is important there are other indicators which serve to demonstrate the fairness of a society. The prison population of the UK has increased 98% since 1993. Thinkers from Ancient Greece to the modern era have recognized the existence of a Social Contract. This deal, which though not written, forms a tacit understanding between the ruled and the rulers. The deal goes something like this. "There are many of us and there are few of you. We will let you rule so long as you don't take too much of the cake - and you treat us fairly." An unfair society cannot be stable. Data harvested by existing surveillance technologies, and processed by algorithms not in the public domain, are already being used to make lists. The foundations have already been laid for a take over by corporate fascism. The take over will occur after a shock. The shock will take a number of possible forms, economic, natural disaster, war, or famine, possibly more than one of these simultaneously. A society in which a ruling elite has TOTAL control is dangerous. We should be concerned that what happened in Nazi Germany could be repeated. Not a carbon copy but a dysfunctional scapegoating culture of cruelty. Once the Social Contract no longer functions because technology and a sleepwalking population has created a ruling class which has no fear of the people it rules anything can happen and it won't be kindness.

                      What are Tags?

                      Tags
