1. One Hour of San Diego Surfing Time Collapsed: San Diego Study #4

    from Cy Kuckenbaker Added 282K 1,604 72

This video was created from one hour of source footage shot from a bluff in San Diego the morning of Jan 21, 2014. I was interested in exploring the manipulation of water and to see how the movements and patterns from surfing interact. Watching surfing typically happens in one or two ways: in films/videos or in person standing on a pier, beach or bluff. In most surf films, the riders are so talented and the waves are so good it becomes an abstraction from the average viewer's/surfer’s experience at an average break. On the other hand, watching in person can be very slow and depending on the swell there may be long stretches when nothing happens at all. This video is a playful attempt to split the difference and reveal just how much can actually happen in an hour in an otherwise nondescript surf spot with non professional riders. There are no CG elements, these are all real surfers and real waves with the time separating them removed. The video does not contain every wave that passed during the hour; I picked the best rides but otherwise tried to maintain chronology. • Beach Cities Christmas

        from Brian Hawkins Added 24.8K 126 24

Ever since moving to the beach communities of Los Angeles from Chicago, I resisted embracing the very different feel of the holiday season in California. In recent years, however, I've really started to appreciate the unique traditions of Christmas in Los Angeles, so I decided to film as much of it as I could this year. Redondo Beach King Harbor features a boat parade with dozens of boats carrying festive passengers, and at least fifty stand-up paddleboard riders also decked out with lights and costumes. Manhattan Beach abstains from fireworks displays during Independence Day so that they can put on an enormous show each December, which is one of the highlights of the holiday season. The Sleepy Hollow neighborhood of Torrance transforms about ten full blocks into a whimsical Candy Cane Lane with almost every home displaying Griswold-style lights and over-the-top décor. Scenes from Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach and Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes are also shown. The entire video is original footage from December 2014. I filmed everything using Canon DSLRs for timelapse and video, plus a GoPro for some of the hyperlapses mounted to my car. Merry Christmas! Adele, Casey, and myself headed to Whitefish City Beach for Paddlefish Sport's SUP demo evening. Equipment used were 2 Cinestar 8's, a Cinestar 6, and 2 Sony CX760s. We also had the new PCB IR board for zooming on the Cinestar 360 gimbal with stabilization. The Sony has a zoom range of 26-260mm which we noticed has a bit of wiggle when fully zoomed, but still quite impressive. No post stab was used except for one shot. See if you can identify which one :-) More info: http://www.facebook.com/quadrocopter Kopter Details: http://www.quadrocopter.com Cheers, Jeff
