Jeremy Deller will present a much-anticipated solo exhibition in the British Pavilion for the 55th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia from 1st June to 24th November 2013. The Vinyl Factory are excited to announce a collaboration with Deller on the musical soundtrack to a new film work to be exhibited in the British Pavilion. The soundtrack is a composition of three classic British songs; Symphony in D Minor by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald and The Man Who Sold The World by David Bowie covered by the Melodians Steel Orchestra, an English/Trinidadian steel band, based in South London. Released and produced by The Vinyl Factory, the ‘English Magic’ EP will be released on vinyl and digital on 10 June. There will also be a limited triple vinyl edition of 300 copies, hand signed and numbered by Deller with record sleeve artwork created by the artist, including a 10x10” photographic print hand tipped on the front cover. The soundtrack was recorded at Abbey Road, in keeping with the British theme. The Melodians Steel Orchestra will be performing at both the Pavilion’s official inauguration on the 29th May and later that evening at The Vinyl Factory & British Council party on the Isla Vignole, Venice.

http://www.Tankdrum.com (Buy these Tankdrums here) Two Tankdrums are even more fun than one! (1x1=1... 2x2=4)... and this is a particularly RAD Tankdrumming session... watch for these two Tankdrummers busking for world peace in a city or town near you this summer... the 2 Tankdrums in this video are the Double-Side D#13 Tanks from Tankdrum.com... a tank drum is a new melodic steel percussion instrument that is played with the fingertips... a tank drum is considered a steel tongue drum which is in the idiophone class of instruments... the Tankdrum was inspired by the PANArt Hang and other similar instruments such as the Space Drum, Pantheon steel Halo, Hank Drum by Dennis Havlena, and Tambiro by Fela Vega... tank drum is most often made from a propane tank, often a recycled propane tank, however the Tankdrums at Tankdrum.com have never been used to hold propane... the Tankdrums at Tankdrum.com also receive an intense heat treatment which hardens the steel to its maximum potential and allows for the ultra smooth resonance and high tunings that give a Tankdrum its unique sound unlike any other similar instrument... Tankdrums are being used in meditation and yoga studios as well as in new age and electronic studios for the unique and ethereal sounds that can be activated organically...this new musical instrument is intuitive and therapeutic, inspiring creativity worldwide... these tank drums are all handmade by us from unused propane tanks... we began making tank drums in 2007 after stumbling across Dennis Havlena's page on how to make a propane tank hank drum (thank you Dennis !!) while researching the PANArt Hang... our drums started off looking and sounding like most hank drums, slit drums, or steel tongue drums found on youtube, not quite satisfied we began experimenting and collecting ideas that would bring us to what is now known as a Tankdrum (our version of the "hank drum")... our Tankdrum was born through letting the natural resonant frequencies of the raw propane tanks decide the keys and scales we use when tuning, our goal being to maximize the constructive interference of the notes to increase volume, sustain, and clarity... each pads placement and the notes that surround it are critical to the ultra resonant sounds... we also give our tanks the maximum heat treatment to temper the steel allowing the rich overtones and harmonious atmosphere that set our Tankdrum apart form other tank drums... for more info check out our FAQ or email me (Chase@Tankdrum) also we have free albums for download of original music made with Tankdrums ranging from new age to hard electro dubstep and beyond... wwwTankdrum(spot)com/music

September 4, 2004; 11:30 P.M. - Brooklyn Museum of Art. This bass player was so much fun to watch. She would dance through rests, and it's incredible how she could bounce to the beats with such energy while playing. As you probably know, bass pans typically only have 3 notes per pan (sometimes 4), and a whole set of bass pans have at least 6 50-gallon oil drums (some have 8 or 9), so there's a lot of moving around to play this instrument. It looks like these are 6 basses.
