Introduction This Video Essay focuses on the stereotype of blondes being stupid and uneducated. By showing examples from films, it should become clear why the stereotype of blondes does exist in society and why it is still present. We will show how these stereotypes are produced through film and come to the conclusion, how and why these stereotypes are often revised. Therefore, the image of the blonde woman in film will become easier to analyze. Under the tutelage of "Mr. After Effects", Professor Mark Clive, my class did promotional animations for Girls' Inc. In addition to helping with the informational spots telling about the organization, I saw the Media Literacy aspect of Girls' Inc. curricula and was inspired to chip in. I proposed this animation, and Girls' Inc. staff approved it. Since it was my initiative, I animated it myself. Christa Haberstock honored us with narrating our material. She is a voice actress and much, much more! Check her out: http://seeagency.com/team/christa-haberstock/

"Pink: Redefined" Visual Communications Book by Stefanie Tam The color pink is typically associated with feminism. While pink is gradually becoming more integrated and socially acceptable amongst males and not just females, there are still hateful associations with the color pink and men. In this book, it is shown that, objectively, pink, including all of its shades, is just like any other color; a shade of light reflected by the object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness (Dictionary.com). On the other hand, our subjective sides associate negative emotions, reactions, and words with the color pink, but for what reason? If it’s just another color, there should be no such gender division. Pictures of: Fiona and Tate R., Carol Lopez, Ben Finander Song: “Sleep Apnea” by Beach Fossils
