In preparation for the continuation of my Stop/Run instrument project I finally got around to fixing the solenoid instruments that didn't work at the first concert. I'm using Max for Live, Maxuino, an Arduino Mega and 24 solenoids (6 are working in this video). Very easy now to sequence the solenoids, which in this demonstration are pulling sticks that flam on steel strings or hit woodblocks. The woodblocks in which the strings are mounted are amplified by piezo discs, which I haven't wired up again yet, hence quiet sound.

Filmed on 18-12-10 at the first Stop/Run show in Severed Head, Dublin. Stop/Run is an ensemble of instruments I built for that show and which in the second half of 2011 I will bring to Galway, Cork and Belfast. A variety of musicians from each area have been asked by me to create new compositions using the instruments.
