http://clayoquot.org At Central Westcoast Forest Society, we see a clear connection between healthy landscapes and healthy communities. Our coast is one of the most beautiful places in the world, but decades of destructive logging, mining, and development practices have left vast expanses of our temperate rainforest in need of a helping hand. Many wildlife species have become endangered and wild salmon runs that once teemed with life are struggling to survive. Our job is to get the hard work done, and to get it done now. Flowing from the lower reaches of the Wood River Valley, Silver Creek is a famed trout fishery that slides through the high desert ranch lands of Central Idaho. Although portions of the creek are within land managed by The Nature Conservancy, much of Silver Creek flows between the banks of working farms and cattle ranches. One of those ranches is the Double-R Ranch, owned and operated by generations of the Purdy Family. Recognizing the negative impacts of a primitive century old irrigation dam, Nick Purdy has partnered with area locals, organizations and agencies to restore Silver Creek to a condition closer resembling the time previous to the dam.
