A cinematic documentary from Chibi Moku about Wing Chun Kung Fu being introduced to the Philippines. Shot over a period of 2 weeks in Manila & Laguna. Featuring Sifu Steve McGowan & Sifu Robert Greene. Also featuring actor Raymond Bagatsing and the rest of the Golden Harvest team. Wing Chun is a Chinese form of martial arts that has quite "unique" techniques and foundations. While wing chun can be found all over the world, including the Philippines, it's a "creative rarity of forms" when passed through it's different lineages. This was a fun project to work on! TONS of cute kids! This is a 10th anniversary video for "English Spot". This was shot over the 2011/2012 school year, and highlights some of the fun moments had at ES. We had many shoots at all the schools, but also had a small little HD camera that got passed around to the teachers...so thanks to all the teachers who helped make this happen! English Spot is a unique & fun place to learn English! With 3 locations in Imazato, Kindaimae, & Tamatsukuri, it's easy to find a school near you in Osaka! Our teachers are diverse, creative, & talented individuals who really care about the students at ES. ES offer kids, adult, & foreign languages classes. Try English, French, Chinese, Korean, or German! ES also offer TOEIC classes. • Berlin > Marienthal: how to ride a bike and shoot ...

Rough cut & grading & sound ... some rendering artifacts. As seen here (long & boring or, rather, soothing and meditative ;), this sequence is intended primarily to demonstrate a rather extreme utilization of the fabulous (great+cheap!) "Sturdycam" rig by Sturdyshots.com . Despite an ill-starred start (right outside the apartment I dropped my Sturdycam's ball-bearing in the sand and didn't have a spare ... hence the pronounced sideways wobble that is NOT characteristic of this device!) -- despite winds amplified by the speed of the bike (don't try this with a Merlin ...) -- despite my less-than optimal choice of a 45mm-equivalent lens (I think, don't remember exactly, but similar anyway) and decision not to use the Sturdycam's foam wind-dampening doodad -- despite owning a bike that will not ever let me ride freehand (thus having to use the rig single-handed) -- despite the rig hitting the handlebars at the most inopportune time -- for a first try we got some relatively amazing "bike-on-bike action" on video, I think. To prove this (i.e. that the usable footage is longer than 2 seconds at a time), there's a lot of footage of, well, riding through the countryside. So this is for you video gear buffs rather than the popcorn crowd ;) Oh, and there's some footage on the train & subway too, of course. No shot has been stabilized in post or slowed down etc. in any way. In addition to the 550D, I also had a Sony mini-monitor mounted on the rig, since I couldn't possibly look at the 3" screen while riding. For shooting purposes, the 45-minute bike trip took about 2 hours+, so my arm was shaking by the end. I wuv my sturdycam, "injured" or not, it's a trooper. There's another (also German) video on the 'tube riding a tank across rough terrain with the sturdy; it's actually smoother than mine (camera guy had both hands free ... that's my excuse ...). Can't wait to find out if one could do this with a vest/arm too. Or how about riding horseback? Would love to see if that's possible! PS the grading was done using my own Motion/Conduit preset (which I think caused the flickering bug) and CGC's Cinestyle with Gorillagrain. Music by Nedret Akcaoglu (electronic) and Kiseki (singing stone/violin), all Berlin artists.

Video test shown at 1080/25p. Take in account that slow web connections might cause stuttering motion when played back in Full HD. My Nikon D5300 kept on doing good jobs as usual and I thought it was time to add a good stabilizer kit. The SturdyCam is cheap, simple to use and very, very efficient. Jacopo, its creator, is an excellent coach, I could rely on him and on its remarkable skills, time after time I realised that the simple fact of balancing a SturdyCam is fun in itself. My previous experiences with the old Steadicam Jr. weren't satisfying for various reasons, now I need a lot of practice to work with a stabilizer the best I can. This video is just a test, I must refine start, stop and turning movements to avoid some of the most common mistakes, but I'm working on them and I think there's nothing better than a SturdyCam, except for... A SturdyCam plus a good steady operator!
