            http://www.soph.uab.edu/mhirt/introduction The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health is offering research training opportunities to minority undergraduate, graduate and health professions students who have an interest in research experience in the areas of nutrition, tropical infectious diseases, reproductive health and/or sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS or chronic disease. Dr. Pauline Jolly, PhD, MPH is the Program Director and UAB mentor for past and present MHIRT Trainees. She provides leadership to both International and UAB mentors in the Minority Health International Research Program. As a recipient of one of these competitively awarded training positions, funded by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institutes of Health, you will have the unique experience of helping others while you learn in Guatemala, Jamaica, Peru or Swaziland. Participating undergraduates (from any US accredited college or university) and Grad/Health professions students (UAB only) will spend 12 weeks (usually mid May- August) at their foreign training sites under the guidance of their assigned foreign mentor and their UAB supervising mentor. Graduate students usually spend three months overseas, but may be eligible for up to six months of training.

                In addition to Sailing, the Resident Camp provides instruction in Kayaking, Waterskiing and Windsurfing. Kayaking takes place on Cape Cod Bay or at our fresh water Long Pond Site. Campers choose Windsurfing and Waterskiing for the entire morning or afternoon and travel to our Long Pond site for instruction. To participate in Waterskiing or Windsurfing, campers must have passed their American Red Cross Level 5 in Swimming.

                  The Art programs at CCSC are our 2nd most popular activities next to Sailing. In 2006 a new Arts Center was completed to accommodate an increased interest in Art as well as offering new creative activities. The Center has a Ceramics room with six wheels, kilns, and sculpting tables. There is a Wax area for Batik and Candle Making as well as Copper Enameling. The main room is the largest and hosts numerous Art Activities including sketching, painting, bead work, weaving, macrame, basket work, tie dying and much more. In addition to a strong art program, we also offer woodworking and digital photography. The CCSC Art Programs are our hidden gems.
