AMPLIFY! is an arts education model developed by Arts Etobicoke that sees trained artists paired with social service agencies to provide high quality, sustainable arts programming. The model grew out of Arts Etobicoke’s belief that art has a unique ability to make a difference in the lives of marginalized individuals who face specific challenges: homelessness, language, poverty, health, isolation, discrimination, bullying. We have seen evidence of this through hundreds of at-risk youth who have benefited from our programming. Arts Etobicoke currently delivers two programs based on this model – one for homeless youth (with Youth Without Shelter) and one for LGBTQ youth and their allies (with RexPride). We want to share this model with the world!

An integrated palliative approach can start anywhere – and everywhere. Everyone has a role to play, including you. In today’s health care settings the role of the expert palliative care team may vary in each jurisdiction. With a palliative approach in place, the same practitioners providing the person’s care in any community setting can initiate and support integrated palliative care. An integrated palliative approach looks at the whole person, providing holistic care that respects each person’s values and preferences and optimizes health care resources to support better care across all care settings. As a community develops an integrated palliative approach and more primary care providers in different settings have the confidence and skills to integrate palliative services into their patients’ care, the expert team will shift to more of a shared-care role.
