At Surfers' Point, located in coastal Ventura, Calif., locals and tourists alike endeavor to experience a social, active, healthy life in the sun and by the beach. A temporary, albeit necessary, escape from reality to remind themselves that there is more to life than work, technology, and mainstream media. Music can be a catalyst for such realization. Every individual, whether they are aware of it or not, has a sense of rhythm. True percussive sound fully experienced through the tribal drum circle has the power to take us back to a more primitive time. Our minds analyze and find comfort in the repetition of the beating drum; a bond established in utero thanks to the hypnotic, muffled thump of our mother's heart. The rhythm melds with liquid in our bodies, making it dance on microscopic levels--sound penerates every fiber of our being. We are all drawn to some form of music. The more we create it, participate in it, experience it...the more connected to ourselves we become. This short film depicts a friendly group of individuals who recognize and embrace our rhythmic predisposition, enjoy a downright good time and, when combining their musical passion with the Surfers' Point beach area, create an exceptional blend of tribal vibes and seaside rhythms. ------------------------------ Rhythms provided by: Mark Are Robert Milan Luis G. I shot this video yesterday at Surfer's Point, Ventura, Ca. Overcast, cloudy and gray, the antithesis of a typical California sunny day at the beach. Really ugly and dull out but it was fun anyway. A mixture of mostly 720 24pN AVC Intra 100 with a few shots of 720 24pN AVC Intra 50 and 1080 24pN AVC Intra 100. See if you can figure out which are which. No color correction or effects besides dissolves, all VFR shots done in camera, this sequence is nothing but the raw footage, edited through FCP 6.05 in Pro Res 422 HQ, exported to 1280 x 720 H.264 @ 5,000kbps data rate. I do see some small artifacts from the compression. I stupidly left auto iris on for some of the panning shots, duh! Soundtrack - "The Sea" by Morcheeba
