This half hour video documents the ongoing work of Permaculture Gurus, Geoff and Nadia Lawton, in the Dead Sea Valley. It begins with the famous original 'Greening the Desert' five minute video clip, and then continues into Part II, a 2009 update to the 2001 original. You'll get to see and learn about the original Greening the Desert site and see some of the spin-off effects of its influence throughout Jordan, and you'll also be introduced to a new educational demonstration site that was started in 2008. You can see the video, and more information about it, in its original post here: http://permaculture.org.au/2009/12/11/greening-the-desert-ii-final/ And the video is also available on YouTube in four parts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzTHjlueqFI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTZ0LbvUoOY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ps1TpK9eiQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8wPD35fewo This is inspiring, practical work - the kind of work that should be encouraged, supported and emulated worldwide. It is the ultimate root-cause type of aid work.

The lifestyle of an Ewok was always a dream. Then hearing about a couple who created an off-grid tree house community and wanted to collaborate on some projects... well, the dream began to become reality. Nestled in the jungles of southern Costa Rica, Finca Bellavista is pioneering sustainable development in Central America. Equipped with solar power and hydro power on the near horizon, water harvested from springs and the sky, bio-digesters managing sewage and a plethora of gardens this community is truly doing justice to the word "sustainability". A true inspiration for the unfoldings of how we can cultivate our communities back home. It was an honor to be a part of this community for our month-long stint in la jungla and were posed with an adventurous and challenging project of adapting their " Pointers Sheet " ( which was a stack paper with intricate details on everything one needs to know about a quest down to the Finca) into an entertaining, insightful and comprehensive video. We hope your curiosity brings you to the unknown realms of the jungle, to experience the wonders of living like an Ewok and discover pura vida. Many thanks to Matt and Erica, Finca Bellavista and the beauty of the jungle for catalyzing growth towards authentic expression. www.fincabellavista.com

InterChange Media in collaboration with the Beacon Food Forest created this video that will be shown at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+20 June 20-22. The Beacon Hill neighborhood in Seattle, Washington is building an urban food forest on 7 acres of public land. Located in one of the most diverse zip codes in the United States, their neighborhood community has come together to grow their own food to rehabilitate the local ecosystem, improve public health and educate about the climate impact of food production. The project will break ground in July 2012. Music composed by Erica Hilario. Special thanks to Glenn Herlihy one of the co-founders who spent a lot of time helping us create the video. Thanks also to Jacqueline Cramer, Giovanni Dellino, Barbara Jefferson, Margaret Harrison and to everyone involved with the project.
