This video consists of documented footage from the expanded cinema installation 'Sensitive Light #1P', as shown at the Athens Video Art Festival 2012. 'Sensitive light #1P' highlights the complex and often invisible systems that constitute our surroundings. Normally we perceive the world by continuously scanning our eyes and moving our bodies in relation to the surrounding world. In this work we are seeing through a fixed perspective. Dynamics in air mobility are captured by a screen that serves as a sensor for the surrounding space. This lightweight transparent screen moves and curves in accordance to visitors entering the space and interacting with the work, which causes light to reflect in different angles. A feedback loop between projecting and capturing light visualizes the screen's constant movement, resulting in a video image. The sound is being composed in real time and based on the continuous loop's resulting images. The visually moving patterns that arise from the spatial behavior in their turn resemble characteristics of biological organisms and wind patterns, both examples of complex -feedback- systems from our naturalistic objective world. The feedback loop serves both as a means as well an extended metaphor for the work. Sensitive light is part of my artistic research in which I investigate the entangled relation between our subjective apparatus and systems that constitute its surrounding, material world.
