"We are the listless red dust suspended in the bright blue afternoon, kicked up by black rubber tires and hot Utah winds. The sun trickles through us refracting and bouncing until we engulf the road in thick white fog. Together, we dangle and float in the chaos. In the wake of disruption we are weightless, peacefully drifting through a landscape rift and ragged with plunging canyons and fractured mesas. As we hang among the green and grey creosote bushes and mingle with the tan limestone walls, we rest. A cloud of dust crossing over the topography like a dream. Perhaps we will tangle in the spines of a cactus to become part of the desert or maybe the wind will catch us up, tumbling and swirling us into a new land. But for now, we linger." - Zach Windsor This edit came as a result of running back in the house and snagging my camera just for kicks before an afternoon off-road drive with the guys. I initially was thinking photos, then thought I would play around with testing out the capabilities of the image stabilization. I was really impressed with the first shot, so I kept shooting, then just decided to film the adventure, and throw together an edit for it. Here is the result. - The Edit - Shot on a Canon Rebel T1i and Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS. Once I decided to go ahead and make the edit, I decided to try and capture the feeling of leisurely driving and hanging out with the guys. This year I've been very challenged with the idea of rest, taking time to allow my body, my mind, and my soul to recuperate. It was something I tragically lacked in my overly hectic and busy life. This was a time of rest, an active rest. There's a simplicity in this leisurely trek through the desert, void of responsibility or stress, shared with the company of guys, who are more akin to brothers, sharing in the experience of life. That was what I tried to capture. I tried to focus on little details, things your mind aimlessly focuses on while your mind wanders, and the carefree interaction of the guys - challenging each other, laughing, and as I said above, simply enjoying life. The video is monochrome because that's how my camera is set up by default for my photography. I shoot RAW so it doesn't actually affect the outcome of the image, but allows me to focus on lighting and composition, without getting distracted by pretty colors. I filmed the first couple shots on the default settings, then just decided to leave it. It added another dimension of simplicity for me as the videographer by eliminating the need to get the color temperature correct and expose for colors, I just exposed for contrast. In the end, I'm glad I went monochrome, even if it was initially unintentional, because I think it also adds to the feel of simplicity in the edit. - The Challenge - For a while now Zach has been on my case about making videos. He enjoys watching videos, I enjoy making videos, and we both enjoy life - While we were driving, Zach challenged me to start filming more consistently, things like this, and just practice filming and editing. I know from experience how much "just doing" improved my photography so, I'm going to take him up of the challenge. So for now, I'm going to push myself to produce one edit a month, and hopefully, that number will increase over time. Zach is a writer, so he also agreed to join me on the challenge, and for every video I make, he will compose a write up for it. His first one, to accompany this video, is at the top of this description and is where I got the title "For now we linger." Here's to rest, challenges, improvement and camaraderie. Enjoy. ____________ Accompanying music: "Vanlig" by Jahzzar (http://betterwithmusic.com)

In rural areas where there is not adequate public transportation residents readily accept and utilize the services of these private for hire vehicles. This documentary aims to show the value/role that pH taxis add to the economy of the county/country they operate in, and further sensitize and inform the travelling public about the pH taxis role in society.
