CreativeTroops supports the creative works of soldiers across the US. We now know that some of the best therapy to help Soldier's cope with and heal from Traumatic or pressure filled events is by using Art. We will be creating a piece of art that will be large enough to set a Guinness World Record and help promote the efforts to aid the treatment of our Soldiers that fought for our Freedom. We will need art supplies, building materials and transportation (truck & trailer) to create our work. Also we will need the names of every invisibly wounded Veteran possible to include in the project.

8 years ago my head was subjected to a tremendous impact that left me hospitalized in a comatose state. My skull was fractured in 6 places, both eye sockets where shattered, my nose was broken, my sternum was cracked & there was road rash all across my forehead. After getting out of the hospital it was difficult to take on the new role in my life that situations had presented me. One day, however, a decision was made that shifted the course of my recovery dramatically in a positive direction. My life has been filled with gratitude ever since & despite a long and adventurous journey to this present day, my objectives have been met. Thank you, ALL

Bridges for Brain Injury is one of the biggest advocates for quality traumatic brain injury (TBI) services in New York State. It provides survivors with the tools and environment to regain independence and sense of self. These include life skills training, day program services, physical/occupational therapy, counseling, and behavior services. Their mission is to raise awareness of the effects of brain injury and living with a disability, as well as promoting prevention practices. They accomplish this through core values by building integrity, teamwork, education, and service. Not only does Bridges provide all of these opportunities, but it also offers a community where survivors of TBI or related injuries can connect with others who are dealing with common challenges. Wildlife Defenders joined Bridges in 2008. It is an education outreach program owned and run by adults who suffer from traumatic brain injuries. They share live native and exotic animal species by visiting schools, youth groups, nursing homes, and various community events. This program helps members with speech, memory skills and self confidence. Through personal interviews with day program members and staff, this documentary takes a deeper look into the real struggles and challenges that disability places on a person. It also addresses the social stereotypes that are often made against people with disabilities. The overall goal is not only to promote brain injury awareness and prevention, but also to encourage the viewer to take a step back and not be so quick to judge the next time they encounter a person in a wheelchair or taking a bit longer to order their lunch. Perhaps one day we will live in a world where disability is not the minority and the abnormal; where these people are not viewed as helpless, needy or pitiful. Perhaps one day they will be seen as strong, independent individuals working towards a better tomorrow. Disability or not, we all deserve to be treated with patience, love and kindness.
