A UI/UX design proposal in response to a university brief for the UTS library. The brief involved coming up with an innovative way to browse the UTS Puppet Collection, as well as an extended use to enhance the puppets' presence. The first half of the video showcases our solution to the first part of the brief, where we have designed a visually engaging website with a multi-layered search engine. The second half displays our proposal for an extended use – an app "Puppet Pals" which is a digitised, role-playing form of pen pals that links users based on common topics. It also serves a therapeutic purpose in allowing users to depersonalise their problems and project them onto a non-judgemental puppet persona. The visual design is based upon the metaphor of a mechanised puppet show. It marries classic, retro aesthetics with sleek, vector graphics, in order to enhance the classic nature of the puppets, whilst staying modern enough to resonate with contemporary audiences. Created in collaboration with Sophia Lau.
