With a new album set to drop and a return to Manhattan imminent, LocalBozo.com grabbed a few minutes with Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix for an exclusive interview. Listen in as we discuss the band's creative approach to the new record, some of Jacoby's favorite memories of playing in New York, how the tour with Seether came to be, the difficulty the band faced in trying to ditch the rap-rock stigma, if he gets tired of performing "Last Resort" and much much more.

In November of 2014 I returned to the city of New York for the trip of a lifetime. This video is a very short summary of some of the things that we got up to. It should be noted that we were having way too much fun to even think to film or be able to capture some of the amazing things we did (Getting very lucky for two broadway shows for example) but here's an attempt at it. Shots are from either an iPhone 5c or an iPhone 5s and edited on FCPX. Song is an instrumental cover of Taylor Swift - Welcome To New York as performed by JED Offical (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUoUvelQiRE)

This interview was exciting, as Ernest Greene a.k.a. Washed Out is my favorite "Chill Wave" band. They were in NYC this past September 18th for a 1-night only show at Terminal 5. I was on assignment for Sub-Pop Records and London based FAULT Magazine for a spec project, as a photographer and journalist... Chill Wave is a recent term that's been associated with this new movement of music exemplifying and expressing various sentiments of ambient, various use of effects processing, synthesizers, looping, sampling and heavily filtered vocals with simple melodic lines. The New York Times' Jon Pareles described the music thus: "They're solo acts or minimal bands, often with a laptop at their core, and they trade on memories of electropop from the 1980s, with bouncing, blipping dance-music hooks (and often weaker lead voices). It's recession-era music: low-budget and danceable."
