A quick test shoot with the Black Magic Cinema Camera to see it's low light shooting capabilities. Shot by Joel Crane and Tanya Voltchanskaya, featuring Chloe Flockart. Unfortunately, the compression turned out really bad when I uploaded it, so for those keen to see, I've put up a few ungraded stills from the shoot. Download them here: www.joelcranephotography.com/teststills.zip Music: Means by Monokle & Galun Technical Info Shot on: Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens Tokina 11-16 F2.8 Switching between 800ISO and 1600ISO Recorded in ProRes with Film Curve. Using entirely available light except for the car exterior shots, which were lit with small Ikan LED kit. Entirely Handheld or on basic Shoulder Rig No Denoiser, Stabilisation or Rolling Shutter Fix has been applied.

this is a small testrun we´ve made with our new little self made jib arm to use it for some crane shots in future productions. we´ve tested how smooth the moves are in real outdoor situations in use with the kesslercrane cineslider, revolution head and the oracle controller for real time motion control shots. the first test with the jib arm runs out great. we tried to build the jib arm as lightweight as we could to being able to use the jib arm with the revolution head. we´re limited in some movements but for some things it´s great. at this time we´re also limited to use this jib arm for timelapse. there is a little bit more "thinking work" on this. but we´re working on to make it work in the future. • Technicolor CineStyle vs Neutral

•Feb 2012 Update•. I redited this test with FCP X. This is a side by side comparison of two profiles. The Neutral is always left, the Technicolor CineStyle is always right. At first, I push the Neutral to a flat image like CineStyle. Then I push the CineStyle to a normal picture as Neutral. And then I grade the two profiles. There is an outdoor scene, a inside scene (difference light at least 4 f-stops) and three actress with different skin tones. No surprise, ProRes 422 is better than the AIC. But my conclusion is always the same, I don't see in the picture, the value of using the CineStyle. And I think Neutral is much better for the human faces. Sorry for my bad english. One more test shoot : Technicolor CineStyle vs Neutral. I shoot Cinestyle with technicolor indication 0,-4,-2,0 and Neutral 0,0,-1,0. I did it primarily for myself, for the next short film that I'll start shooting next week. Edit and color adjustment were done in Final Cut Express. I made a very simple color correction. Just one color corrector filter or on color corrector filter plus a LUT applied with Magic Bullet LUT buddy. There's a interior shoot illuminated with daylight bulbs. Outdoor shoot from a window (with moir? on the roof) and a shoot with the face of one of my actresses (for skin tone; she's a south french girl). I edit to view side by side on the same picture, both neutral and cinestyle picture style. For my part I will continue to use the neutral picture style. I don't see on my pictures, the interest of using the technicolor cinestyle. But I see the difficulties of using this profile. It's harder to focus and to choose the right exposure. And color adjustment is longer. The application of the LUT needs render time. Sorry for my bad english.

Personal Work Collaboration with www.JosephAgustinPhoto.com and www.RachelleHali.com Backstory: Joseph and Rachelle teamed up for some still photography test work. They recruited Sequoia to be their model, and asked me the morning of the shoot if i wanted to come out to shoot any video. With our small team of 3, plus our model, we were able to get some cool photos and video shot within a few hours. After beginning to edit the video, i asked a screenwriter friend, Ashley, if she wouldn't mind whipping together a little narration script. After she came back with her script, I looked for a voice actor on www.Fiverr.com. I sent over the finished edit, and Alison Rae from Fiverr sent back her recorded voice over within a day. It was all very loose and informal and improvisational from concept through delivery. But the experience was fun and reminded me to always make time for personal work, and to continue to collaborate with friends. Director/DP/Editor: Daniel Agustin Producer/Photographer: Joseph Agustin HMUA/Lighting Assistant: Rachelle Hali Model: Sequoia Steen Writer: Ashley Rubio Voice Actor: Alison Rae Tech Specs: Blackmagic Cinema Camera EF, Canon 17-55 IS, Tokina 11-16, Tiffen NDs Footage shot in RAW, Cut in FCPX, and Graded in Davicini Resolve 10
