    • How to be fully in the Now right now!

“Nothing ever happened in the past; it happened in the Now. Nothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now.” - Eckhart Tolle It’s a challenge to simply stay present for sure! But accept no substitute: To center and ground yourself in the NOW is the absolute prerequisite for taking an active part in your own life and in the lives of others. I’m sure, like most of us, you still have something to digest and integrate from the past. And I can imagine you have a lot coming up that you are concerned about and interested in too. When you think about it, with Past and Future, both being so vast, this skinny little sliver of time we call the present has got a lot of competition! You may even ask: “Why try to be so much to be in the now? What’s ‘wrong’ with being in the past or the future? Past memories and future dreams are great. I wouldn’t ever want to let those go...!” The ‘problem’ is not about bringing the energy and information from your past or future into your awareness. The ‘problem’ occurs if you leave the present moment to ‘go there’. When you are not in the present moment, anything else you bring into awareness is not in relation to your current reality. We can’t LIVE in the abstract, we can only do things that are in relation to where we concretely ARE right now. Each time you LEAVE the present moment and lose yourself in thoughts of past or future moments, you leave your body, for the most part, to get there. We leave the present moment by going into our head. And heads are not terribly useful without bodies! Nothing changes without being embodied - without using our body. And so we go somewhere in our mind and we can even spend LOTS of time there, but very little tends to happen while we are there! Being fully embodied and present in the now does not mean you do not consider the past or the future. It actually empowers you to take it even more and better into consideration - but from a grounded and much more ‘useful’ place. Center yourself in your body and be present with what is going on right now both inside and around you. Sense clearly how everything you consider and interact with remains highly relevant to where YOU are and to what serves or does not serve the moment. I totally get that it’s challenging... Not only do the past and present tend to pull us ‘away’ - the present moment can be rather overwhelming at times! It can feel like a relief to jump partly out of our body and into a different place in time. And yet, in the long run, life passes us by this way and we’ve lost that window of opportunity to make a difference for ourselves and others... Life CAN be such a delight (!) ...if we can just be present long and fully enough to learn to dance with it skillfully. But if you don’t show up, again and again, for this specific appointment you have been given with life, you will indeed find yourself dis-appointed ;-) Where are you losing the most time and opportunities by not being able to stay fully present? Follow the simple breath and movement tip in this video, and you’ll quickly bring your whole body and mind into the present moment where you can interact much more directly with what is instead of with what has been or may happen.
