After a quick Survivor man skit intro, I try to invent a new Skimboard start technique to bouldering which quickly eludes to me spraining my ankle. But basically it's all fun in the snow with my buddy Kip at the Tramway and Tim out on the East Coast...

f-stop's collaborative effort with our team of photographers and filmers is an essential cog in product research and development. Working with industry leading professionals to help design and build the ultimate camera packs and bags is an ongoing endeavor that has helped shape the brand and company we are today. In an effort to give back to the f-stop Pro Team and photo/film community, we've set out to tell the story of a few of our team photographers and filmers. Episode 1 of 'Life in Focus' features f-stop Pro, Tim Kemple. Those who follow the outdoor action sports world--especially climbing--have likely come across Tim's work before. With over a decade of commercial experience to his name, his images have been featured in blogs, billboards, and print ads across the globe. His focus has been capturing world renowned athletes in their element--very often in some of the most beautiful landscapes on Earth. Tim co-founded Camp4Collective with fellow athletes/shooters, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk. We had the opportunity to go behind the scenes with Tim on a shoot in Chamonix for Black Diamond, to capture him in his element, and hear how his story began. Special thanks to Tim Kemple, www.Kemplemedia.com, www.Camp4collective.com, www.BlackDiamond.com, www.Photographytalk.com and Dylan Taylor for couch space in Chamonix! from renan ozturk Added 10K 220 18

Our crazy first year as a production team ended with a wild adventure to document the first ever climbing in the remote Ennedi desert of Chad, Africa. After 4 days following a GPS coordinate for 800km on a roadless wasteland we found ourselves among thousands of beautiful unclimbed towers. Tim http://kemplemedia.com/ , Jimmy http://jimmychin.com and I http://rockmonkeyart.com all have a lot of experience in expedition storytelling from the high himalaya to the jungles of Borneo but this trip redefined 'remote' for all of us. We were so psyched to collectively push our gear and creativity with our athlete friends at http://thenorthface.com. From a production standpoint besides the knife fights with the locals and a few lenses lost to the sand things went pretty smooth. We were able to run our entire work flow without a generator using goalzero.com solar and battery setups. It was also our first time shooting the motion time-lapse setup on the kesslercrane.com pocket dolly which was the secret weapon in so many ways. A director's cut of the final film "Towers of the Ennedi" will screen at 5pointfilm.org/ at the end of April before the full premier at mountainfilm.org/ at the end of May! Thanks for checking out this tid-bit. I'm super stoked to say that we just arrived for a two week shoot on the Spanish island of Mallorca! This is shoot number 3 on the 6 week Euro tour. I can't express enough how super fortunate we are to work with some great companies that are willing to throw down for these adventures even with the economic climate being the way it is. This is a stop motion (bunch of still images stitched together into a movie) video and is pretty easy to do. Just walk around talking pictures with your camera (tripod will help) and use Quicktime Pro to import the image series at a specified frame rate (Final Cut also does this well, iMovie too?). We did this fast and light, but you can see with some diligence you can create some cool, and unique effects.
