Minnesota former Governor Tim Pawlenty was asked what advice he had for Minnesota's current political leaders. After saying when he was governor that he wished former governors would "shut the hell up," Pawlenty suggested that since there was a surplus there should be some tax relief, spending should be examined and he would like to see "incentive money" for education reform.

A HOT MESS on a cold day... Smart Sand / Fairview Cranberry construction of railroad load out in Hixton Township 02-16-2015. Approx 18 mph winds to the north at the time photos were taken, blowing dust and soil. Earth, Inc. (not a local company) is the construction firm operating in this video. The faster the trucks went, the more dust was created. Dust in in the ditches, one ditch has no culvert for water to pass under a temp road on Montgomery road and will like create flooding into the road this spring. The silt and sand has blown over the silt fence in areas because the snow has filled them. This is very near the Trempealeau River just off of State Highway 95. Homes in the immediate area of the construction are coated with silt and dirt, berms emit fugitive dust as the huge trucks travel on them. Silt is blown across the field south of Montgomery Road. One home, on the end of this presentation is surrounded by silt fence and a huge berm on three sides. Fugitive dust covers much of the surrounding properties. We won't be able to see the fugitive dust so much when the snow is gone. This presentation shows powerful evidence of the fugitive dust during construction. Smart Sand is operating without an air permit as approved by WDNR last fall. In August of 2014, the consultant from Smart Sand's engineering firm assured us all in a public hearing, the corporation would abide by existing regulations. Then, they applied for the waiver.
