This Japanese cable-laying barge was used in the Cayman Islands in the digging of the channel for the Cayman Islands Yacht Club. In 1991 The Department Of Environment agreed to sink the barge as an artificial reef along Seven Mile Beach. The wreck was renamed "Doc Poulson" after Dr. John Poulson who secured the Cayman Islands' first Hyperbaric Chamber at the hospital. The Doc Poulson is 100ft long and sits upright on a sandy sea bed at a depth of 40-56ft.

"Big Tunnels" was first discovered in 1970. The site is known for a pair of large tunnels which slice down through the reef and open onto the wall. Very spectacular! I'm very lucky to have so many beautiful dive sites in my neighbourhood and to have great neighbours to dive with.

We spent two weeks in Baa Atoll, Maldives on the MV Manthiri attempting to reprise my footage of the Manta Ray Aggregation of 2010 with the RED Epic. Apart from a couple of late afternoon feeding frenzies in deeper, darker waters we spent most of our days at this great cleaning station at Dhara Muli. The rays were extremely cooperative and I shot several passed at my go to 36 fps (24 fps playback) as well as 48 fps and 96 fps.

Seeing Silversides in October in Grand Cayman is rather unusual. They stay mostly only during July and August. So I was surprised to see them in Devil's Grotto on a early morning dive. I had a Canon 60mm macro lens on my camera, but started to film nevertheless. I went back the next morning with a Tokina 10-17 fisheye lens, and this is the result.

An unexpected opportunity to visit the ex-USS Kittiwake gave me the chance to spend a little time inside the wreck to capture the light tumbling into the belly of this beauty. I want to do this again.

This is a little test with a few images, shot before sunset. I'm always searching for another, more cinematographic look. The soft light in a low angle made it somewhat special.
