Director / Editor: Eliot Rausch Director of Photography: Eric Koretz Assistant Camera: Adam Becker Music Composition: Adam Taylor Location Scout: Jeff McSpadden "Vans came to me with a proposal to create a short film that embodied the essence of their brand. The creative exploration and freedom they allowed me was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Pure trust, pure faith, in my abilities as a story-teller / director and as a friend. In creating this piece, it was profound to realize the success of their company, at its core, is based on a similar model they share with everyone they work with. To feel part of a brand, part of a family, part of an authentic creative expression, truly moved me to my core." - Eliot Rausch Special Thanks to: Steve Van Doren, Classic Hosoi, Ray Barbee, Leila Hurst, Steve Caballero, Keith Morris, Stephen Murray, Mason Murray, Seth Murray, Tony Alva, Curren Caples, Russ Pope, and Christian Hosoi An www.Offthewall.tv Production To read about how this was shot on the Red Epic using Canon Lenses go to http://blog.theimagehunter.com/?p=1488

THIS HISTORIC 8MM FOOTAGE OF DOGTOWN'S FOUNDING MEMBERS, WAS CAPTURED IN THE SPRING OF 1977 BY WAYNE BABCOCK. WAYNE HAS NEVER RELEASED THIS FOOTAGE NOR HAS HE SHARED HIS VINTAGE DOGTOWN SKATEBOARD COLLECTION WITH THE PUBLIC, BOTH HAVE BEEN DONATED EXCLUSIVELY IN SUPPORT OF THIS PROJECt. The Dog Bowl, originally known only to the most hardcore DogTown crew, was located in Northern Santa Monica - The Dogtown crew had their own pool that they could skate in peace. "Dino's Dog Bowl" was shortened to just "The Dog Bowl." A teenager with terminal cancer asked his father to drain the family pool on their huge estate overlooking The Brentwood Country Club Golf Course. Some of the most famous photographs in skateboarding were shot at the Dog Bowl. Tony Alva is credited with doing the first front side aerials at the pool in the fall of 1977. It was named "The Dog Bowl" because there were dogs always hanging out at the pool. On any given day over the summer of 1977 most of the entire DogTown crew were at the pool. Some of the best skating sessions EVER took place there.

Track: "I Like to Surf" by Gantez Warrior http://www.facebook.com/gantezwarrior Fin Soup was a cook off which called for two cups of both fined and un-finned ingredients, a cut of surf-swap, a dash of live music and one dozen shapers. Hailing from the corners of San Diego, Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, and as far as Japan, the most renowned chefs came by to demonstrate and show us what they have been cooking up and takin out... *Note: Fin Soup is best enjoyed chilled with one fin. A special thanks goes out to all who participated, including: Seea, Yellow Rat, Alva Surfcraft, Kookbox, Mason Dyer Brand, The Piapo Society, 4th Gear Flyers, Wegener, Schuyler Creative, Josh Hall Surfboards, Brink Surfboards, Bing Surfboards, The Longboard Collectors Club, and Sherman for fixin' our boards! When I made this skate documentary, it felt like I was sitting down with old friends and discussing old times; but we had no expectations that this film would have any success. We made it the way we wanted, because we liked it. Nobody believed in it. When we were doing the film, everyone treated it like a trivial exercise, but you know what, if you do the right thing in your life, if you listen carefully, things happen. If you’re willing to live in a state of heightened insecurity, things will work themselves out. When a friend saw a rough-cut of the film, she said "You’re going to Sundance with this." And we did.
